If I use a plot twist to enhance my strength and it says for this attack does it enhance my character for the entire attack phase or just that battle with the character is currently in?

Like if I play Savage Beatdown do I get just a +5 for the current battle my character is in, or for the remainder of that attack step.

Effects that say "this attack" refer to one specific attack interaction.
