Team attacks are stated to cause no breakthrough damage.
The current rulings under cyclops apparently allows you to team attack the player.
But the rulebook says that team team attacks don't cause breakthrough damage, and that attacking the player directly is considered to be breakthrough damage.
So regardless of cyclops' pumps, his teams wont cause damage at all.
Let me know if I'm mistaken here. Other wise, Cyk would be bah-roken.
Originally posted by JoFo It turns out that you can cause damage by team attacking a player, despite the initial confusing wording. So, yes, Cyke is pretty mean.
Any chance you could point us to a thread for review?
I need some confirmation on this: Team attacks work like that?
If they worked like that, then they'd hit the player for breakthrough loss.
Moreover, cyclops indeed becomes broken. Assuming they drop nothing 1 and 2, a cyke and longshot can hit someone for nine. and 'ell, if there's no three drop (and this would be either a bad draw or their fault for not sticking low guys in there,) wolvie will hit the table and the entire team of 3 will hit hiim directly for 17! that's 28 damage BASE in 3 turns?

You can attack the player, but to do so they cant have any characters in play (or not stunned) so yeah, it works that because they are attacking a single target,

I don't think so. The rules state that all breakthrough caused by a team attack is reduced to zero.

An unfortunate rulebook oversight does not explain this properly.
I'm starting to detect a pattern of inconsistency. Let's hope they get the comprehensive rules posted sometime soon. I'm getting really tired of hearing how one mechanic has varying effects.
This is not, IMO, one mechanic having varying effects. The point of team attacks is that all of the damage goes onto one single target.
When that target is a character, the team attack does not deliver BEL, because that would spread the damage onto a 2nd target.
When that target is the player, all of the damage goes onto the player, with no 2nd target, and therefore no mechanic is broken by the deliverance of BEL.
