OK, I spent a few hours dueling this weekend, and we had some questions come up. A lot were combos that I thought would work, but my opponent asked me to check to see if they were valid.
On an aside, the team tactics, with cosmic radiation to exhaust the same character was awesome. I saw that in a thread and tried it this week. Blindside, with 6 drop FF hulk, and team tactics with cosmic radiation = 40 point loss in 1 attack for my opponent. Wow!
1. If my opponent uses Gambit's effect to stun a character, and I activate a child named valeria. Is my character saved? and does gambit still stay exhausted?
1b. Can I combo a child named valeria and then flame trap. So my opponent's characters are stunned my mine would survive.
2. When does swift escape need to be played? If I declare my attack, my opponent passes. I play a plot twist to boost my attacker, then he plays swift escape. Is this legal? Does my attacker stay exhausted?
3. If my opponent plays finishing move, exhausting his character, then I flip Yancy St., My character stays and his character stays exhausted. Correct?
4. Rogue, when Rogue stuns a character, KO that character. Is there cost loss? Is it stunned then KO'ed or does it go straight to the KO pile?
5. 6 cost hulk. He gets a +1 attack for each face down resource. Will his attack value change during the attack step if a resource is flipped up? Or is his attack set at the attack declaration?
6. If I activate Ant Man's ability on a character with personal force field, does the character lose the reinforcement from the equip?
7. Can I play 7 cost thing on turn 7 to bounce my opponent's characters. Then on turn 8, play another 7 cost thing to bounce his character's again? I know that the first one would go to the KO pile, but I just want to get the effect again.
8. If my character is using flight from fantasticar to attack a protected back row character, and sometime during the chain, my opponent plays Backfire to get rid of the fantasticar, what happens? Does this have to be done before my attacker is exhausted?
I know this is a lot. I think I read that a can not alwyas takes priority over a can, which would take care of some of the questions, but I want to be sure before I start going to PCQ's. Thanks.
Here is my take on some of your questions. Please take note that I too have only played a few games so I could be wrong.
1) Yes. Yes.
2) Yes.
3) Yes.
4) Stunned first, then KO pile, as the Stun is part of the condition of the KO.
5) At time of the attack declared I belive. I read about some other move that required so many resources, but one was KO'd before the move was resolved. But so long as they were there to start the action, it was fine. Probably need a better input here than me :)
6) Yes.
7) Yes.
8) Since the chain resolves backwards I would assume the attack became invalid, therefore he is readied and can attack another character. Again, a little more help please ;)
2. The attacker would ready, but you "wasted" a buff on that attacker.
5. His bonus comes down if you flip a twist. It's not set until you start to resolve combat.
8. If he wants to stop the attack, he needs to do it when the attack is proposed. If he doesn't, the attacker exhausts and then it is too late. (Pretty sure, hmm, maybe you have to check for legality again before resolution. Help!)
I could use a little more help on a couple of these questions, but thanks. Most of what you thought was consistent with the way that I was playing it.
One other question. My opponent readies his puppet master during recovery. When is the first time that he can activate his effect again. Can he use it at the end of recovery? My opponent likes to activate it at the end of recovery if I have alicia masters to keep me from using her effect. Or if I save my large character, he will activate it at the end of recovery so I can't use him to attack next turn. Is this a legal combo? Can puppet master be activated during the draw phase if not the end of recovery?

According to a UDE ruling, your opponent can't use Puppet Master during recovery; at the very beginning of recovery, before anything else happens, effects can be used. Once both players pass on an empty chain, then all of the following happens in this order, with no responding in between:
1. Check for "Game Over" status. Players life points at or below 0.
2. Choose a character to recover.
3. Recover 1 character.
4. All other stunned characters are KO'd.
5. All cards Ready.
6. Pass initiative.
7. Begin next turn.
So the only time effects can be used is at the very beginning of the recovery phase; otherwise, these steps occur and you're kicked into the next turn.
What about question number 2 for swift escape?
Can this be played after I declare an attack, there is no response, then I play plot twists to boost or stop reinforcement of his character, then he plays swift escape. Is this OK. Did he get me to just waste my PTs? Does the character ready?
I would disagree with 3 as yancy streets card says:
Card Text:
Your opponents may not target stunned characters you control.
but by the time that you have fliped it your opponent has already paid costs and target your character, these are done Simultaneously (well pretty #### much) and he does this when he plays the card.
I would disagree with 3 as yancy streets card says:
The effect would still be on the chain and then try to resolve, but at resolution, it would have an illegal target and be negated. If a power targets it must be legal at announcement AND resolution.
If I want to use Yancy St. effect for thing, do I have to activate before thing is stunned, immediately after, or can I wait until the end of the turn?

You would have to flip Yancy Street up before Thing gets stunned. That portion of Yancy Street is a triggered power and must be there at the moment the triggering event occurs.

For 8 it is ok for you to still attack. An attack can only be made illegal before the attacker exhausts.
As it was stated earlier, if backfire is played in response to the attack declaration, then the attack is made illegal. If it is done after the declaration resolves(IE attack is exhausted) then they just lose fantasticar and get the -1 def.
