there seems to be a lot of good cards in the Batman set that will combat the the new brotherhood deck. Like Hidden Surveillance. Is slowing the game good? I would like to see the end game more. I personally think FR was a dumb card to make. anyways just trying to start some chat about the new set's impact on the game.
I don't think it's gonna kill it, it's just gonna see some much needed tough love...!;)
But seriously, I think with the ever-evolving Meta-Game the deck won't exactly drop out of play, especially with some of the new cards to help it out, but it WILL see less play than it's used to. Then again, that's just from the looks of DC Origins on paper, it all depends on how the cards actually play...!
The New Brotherhood itself may have less impact due to Have a Blast. On the other hand, some of the Fearsome Five combo extremely well with them, Feral Rage and Mammoth make for a potent duo, plus using Neutron for resource control.
We'll see how theory and practice differ, but I suspect that The New Brotherhood plot twist will become less evident, but the team should be able to survive with some minor adjustments.
I beleive that the DC set will help to limit the Brotherhoods power. But this is a good thing because now less people will play Brotherhood and they will start playing other decks. So when DC comes out you won't have to go to a tournament and have more than half the decks being brotherhood. But, don't think you will stop seeing Brotherhood because people will be trying hard to find ways around the new cards.
well if the TNB card is dropped and he theme over having only 4 locations is dropped then the deck is dead. I am not asking if the brotherhood team will fall out i doubt that would happen i am just hoping that PCQ stop seeing 75% of the decks with the same theme.
Well.. I wouldn't say dead.. But anyone who plans to use TNBH even after DC is legal in tournys.. Better pray they don't get matched up against an LoA Real Estate deck.. Or it's game..
Yeah, I think Ghul is the last person I would buy property from (unless he is selling Lazarus Pits, in which case I'm in. lol)
I prefer BB to NBH when playing the Hood but either way people will have to be more cautious when flipping and playing locations and PT now. I don't know that the amount of Brotherhood is going to decrease right away. They are a proven system in Vs. I think given a little time the numbers will decrease but it will definitely be gradual.
LOA is certainly my pick from the DOR set. It has the foundations for control, it set up for nice early aggro and threatens to upset TNB strangle hold on the meta.
I don't know if TNB itself drives the metagame. Aggro decks are always going to be a factor. TNB just exploited the newness of the game in a very limited environment. Big Brotherhood has proven to be the better deck and many other teams are proving to be more aggressive in the early game.
I think the ebb and flow of the metagame may get very interesting in the upcoming weeks. If LoA is as good at screwing the location Brotherhood decks as everyone thinks, then certainly we will see a drop in Brotherhood decks played. The question becomes, what will the Brotherhood players start playing? I suspect if LoA becomes dominant, then decks like Bumper Cars FF (which use no locations) may become all the more powerful, which then makes LoA a much less effective deck. If LoA is then driven out of the environment by no-location decks, Brotherhood will then be open to come back in. We could all get very dizzy...
bumper cars will start to see problems as well. Superboy kills the deck. I think the Gotham Knights have a police that does this too. The reason bumper cars was strong in Marvel Origins, that with personal forcefield and stretch their was no way to remove equipment. The metagame will certainly change a little, I do see Lost Brothers hurting, because they are so reliant on locations.
Yeah, Superboy can wreak havoc with equipment, but as always, how prevalent will Titans be? As I said in another thread, we are likely to see some weird decks before it stabilizes again, but when it finally does settle, I believe that we will see more archetypes.
More cards are just going to do this, unless they release some really broken team specific stuff. I'm sure that there will be some people willing to take their chances against the field, we'll just see what happens. After all, if there are 8 viable decks, then the odds of you facing any of them in a tournament are approximately one in eight, not including some experimental designs (whether due to concious decision or lack of cards) or people that, for lack of better words, don't know what they are doing, and some people will be happy to face those odds.
Just thought i'd add in a little something. A friend of mine (Who will remain nameless) and myself had a bet going that i could wreck his 200$+ TNBH deck(Savage beatdown playset, Feral's, Genosha, The works) with whatever i pulled in my DC box that would be arriving this week (Bet was for 3 packs of DC Origins).
That was 3 days ago. The box arrived today, And he sat at the kitchen table anxious to own the living crap out of me, and i sat across from him as i pulled from all 24 packs and tryed to assemble a deck as fast as i could..
We agreed on a Bo3 (Best of 3) match. Well wouldn't ya know it? My box consisted of mostly LoA, including Lady shiva, Ra's demon head, the works. Welp, To cut a long story short. He quit in the middle of game 2 (it was 1-0 me) and now owes me 3 packs of DC..
LoA Real Estate (Splashed a little bit with LoA Disease) totally DEMOLISHED him (It's easy to get 4 Plague counters on a character with the right setup.. Can you say.. Buh Bye Feral?) .. Not being able to flip those Oh So Crucial locations hurt him.. And it hurt him BAD..
I knew LoA would be good vs TNBH... I just didn't realize just how effective..
