So, when I got started with VS I was the last one of my friends to sign on when we bought cards and I got last pick of teams. No one wanted the FF and since then they've become my team of choice. Mostly because while I love the stratagey in card games I like to play decks that don't require a physics degree to get them to work.
With the glut of control decks currently popping up I'm starting to wonder though if the FF Beat is still a viable competative option.
Most definately. I've always loved FF Beats, just keep in mind when facing control, they can only exhaust so much ;). If you put out dif characters instead of adding up on them (instead of replacing a 3 drop thing, try Ghost rider or Stretch instead). The more characters, the less that can be exhausted. Also, use Ka-Booms, and if needed in you local metagame, foileds, just to set back the turns, control hates the early game, generally they lead up to a big drop (Doom for example, Bomber uses onslaght, and dooms 2 8 drops + apoc sometimes is always bad bad bad).
Basically, be smart, spread out, kill the controllers, and kill fast, F4 is an agro deck...don't hold back ;).
Overall: Yes, they can still kick Ass and always will (probly :\)
I think FF Beatdown is very viable. Butthebest versionimseing right now is FA-Boom.Wich is a solidbesat down version with Stretch and his toy cars and forcefields. Along withkaboomand foiledforsome fun.....
i have been playing FF for a long time and i always play them in the PCQ's and in every pcq that i went to i always got top 4 i never got anything lower then that so i still think that FF is still a very good deck to play with
they are a beatdown style deck for the most part. aggressive decks are always a threat to deal with. plus they have a good support from their plot twists and some character abilities.
Still very viable. I see Ka-booms and Foileds meaning mandatory, since control decks need to work on later turns and F4 always has strong drops after 4 and up. Being able to repeat turn 5 is pretty nasty if you can get heavy hitter and stretch out with some equips. FF beats just needs to be tuned to the meta-game and it's always solid. It plays well against Common-Enemy.
There is no doubt that it is a solid deck. I have a little different version that I run. I'm thinking of trying it at Gen Con. It is a very solid beatdown deck.
FF beats is great.
At GenconUK $10K I used a FF Beat/equip deck and got to top 8. I felt that it seemed to be on an equal plane as with Common Enemy and I only lost the top games as I didnt see any characters until turn 5 and then following, turn 4. Very bad luck. Didn't see signal flares either :-( Oh well.
FF is the way forward, its my favorite team closely followed by TT/GK crossover.
