both are prefectly legal, HOWEVER, the second scenario wouldn't have much of a result. The KO effect is already on the chain, and recovering the character doesn't stop that. You'd recover the character, and then they'd be KOed.
Th Laz Pit scenario is fine though, and is used that way often.
When she stuns a defender, her triggered ability (KO target character) goes on the chain.
Your opponent can add to the chain before allowing that triggered ability to resolve.
For your examples:
If he chains with Lazarus Pitt, then the character will not be KO'ed when Rogue's ability resolve.
If he chains with Children of the Atom, the character will be recovered and then KO'ed when Rogue's ability to resolve. Rogue's ability does not check if the character has the stunned characteristic.
