When U-Go-Girl comes into play, you may return an X-Statix character you control to its owner's hand. If you do, return target character with cost 2 or less to its owner's hand.
x-statix HQ
Activate, KO a non-stunned X-Statix character you control -> Gain endurance equal to that character's cost. Draw a card, then discard a card.
1. Can she return herself for her effect?
2. Does this go on the chain? So that if something happens to the opponent character I was trying to return, can I use HQ on my character I was returning before it returns?
This is pretty important stuff in the mirror match when a 27/27 Phat hits the table.
Star of the show.
As an additional cost to play Star of the Show, discard an X-Statix character card.
Ongoing: While you control exactly one character, it cannot be the target of effects your opponents control.
3. Does star of the show need to be active before the targeting happens or can it be played in response to the targeting to stop it? For example, my opponent uses 7 drop spidey showing an appropriate cost character. I then flip star of the show. Does the target have to be legal on activation and resolution?
I think I know this one, but the guy I was playing refused to believe it.
Yes her effect goes on the chain. Just like 4 drop Doom where you can put his effect on the chain, flip a plot twist like Mystical Paralysis and turn it back down. So you would recruit her and give your opponent the chance to respond. If they pass her effect resolves, her entire effect including returning their character.
Regarding targeting, yes it has to be legal at activation and resolution.

E: Yes, since this is a come into play effect, she is in play and a legal character to return.

E: Yes, this uses the chain as a triggered effect (as noted by the 'when').

E: Yes... as long as you chain the flipping of SOTS to the targeted effect, it will negate upon resolution.
Note on #2: if the target for U-Go Girl's effect is no longer a legal target at resolution, then the effect is negated. This means that no opponent's character would be returned to hand, nor would you have the option of returning an X-Statix character to your hand.
