Q1: Silver surfer Vs. Prof X(8) Q2: Sabretooth VC vs. Overload
Q1
Turn 8, my initiative, I play proffessor X (8 drop) and my opponent plays surfer, combat phase, can I chain my discard effect with the trigger for surfer on the chain, making him discard his hand and then not pay the cost?
Q2
I attack victor creed into anything, he's in the front row, and he gets triple beatdown/overloaded, is he still part of the attack? What if he's team attacking? I would think so, but I'm not that sure, as this seems pretty damn good.
If the opponent has init, they pay by discarding first. Nothing you can do will cancel this payment. If YOU have the init, they can wait for you to pay for all the discards and then they add their effect to the chain, and discard for its payment.
The Discard is the payment, and once it is paid the effect will resolve.
Silver Surfer doesn't have a payment power. At the start of the combat phase, his triggered power will place a triggered effect on the chain. And only when that effect resovles will Silver Surfer's controller have the option to discard a Fantastic Four character card; by using Professor X's payment power while Silver Surfer's effect is on the chain, you can absolutely stop your opponent from gaining control of the initiative.
And about Victor Creed---if you use his effect, then the stun has been replaced with your paying 10 endurance; Sabretooth never stuns. Since he never stuns, he never loses the attacker characteristic and is never removed from the attack.

Silver Surfer is triggered not paid. Which means, regardless of initiative, you put the triggered effect on the chain first. Once on the chain, the player with initiative gets priority. Now you could use Prof X to empty your opponent's hand. Then Silver Surfer's effect would resolve but you couldn't discard to the effect and therefore could not steal the initiative.
