707.6 Evasion is a keyword that represents a payment power on a character and has the text "Stun this character >>> At the start of the recovery phase this turn, recover this character."
since the non-initiative player's effects will resolve first, i assume that an evaded character won't prevent xavier's dream from getting a counter unless it's resolved 2nd. my question is what happens if i evade a character at the start of the recovery phase? do i still have to recover it before moving to the actual recovery phase or will the trigger have passed and i have to recover it as normal?
basically, i'd like to know how to counter xavier's dream w/ evasion. thanks!
at the start of the recovery phase if theres a stunned character then there's no counter on the dream. its that simple. so if you evade at the start of the recovery phase then a counter cant go on xavier's dream. just so you know though, the xavier's dream deck uses total anarchy, so you'd have to evade a character 4 or higher, also they use death in the family so watch out for that
Both. If there is a stunned character upon going into the Recovery Phase, its effect will not go on the chain. If the effect successfully goes on the chain and a character becomes stunned before its resolution, Xavier's Dream will 'fail' because its trigger condition is no longer true.
Of course the Xaveir's Dream deck also runs Total Anarchy, so that evasion character had better be a 4 or higher build or your evasion will do nothing.
so for the record, if i evade julia carpenter before the recovery phase during their initiative on turn 5, eventhough i "have" to recover julia at the start of the recovery phase, xavier's dream will not go on the chain, correct?

A stunned character's text box is inactive, so stunned characters never have evasion, cosmic, etc.
If Anarchy is flipped after you put your Evasion on the chain, then Black Cat will already have been stunned, and so Total Anarchy will not trigger to KO her.
Total Anarchy does not target, and so in addition to Ricochet not stopping it, it also cannot be stopped by effects like Nice Try!

No matter whose initiative it is, Julia Carpenter will be stunned when Xavier's Dream performs its first check; since there is a stunned character, it will not place any effect on the chain.
And if you use Evasion during the recovery phase, then you have already passed the start of the recovery phase, and so the Evader's recovery will never trigger.
