This last Saturday, my store owner was ranting about how companies (particularly Score) make TCGs, and then just let them die. I heard games like DBZ, Star Wars, Inuyasha, and Yu Yu Hakusho had a strong following, but the company that was running them dropped the games to put their resources into newer ones.
This led me to thinking: Why can't these games just become part of the VS System? The way VS is set up, almost any combat-oriented game can be integrated into it. These games that died off could be brought back as VS teams, creating an even bigger and more fun game (imagine teaming up The Avengers with a Saiyan team!)
Since UDE hasn't announced what sets are coming out after JLA, I am hoping that non-comic companies get into VS and that's what the next set will be about. Marvel and DC are great, but with only two companies in on what could be a huge game is dissapointing.
Am I just dreaming here, or is this possible? Does anyone else feel the same way?
I forgot to add something to my first post. The issue is doing this could possibly get more players into VS.
The MAIN audience for VS is people who have read comic books/like superheros. Star Wars fans or Anime fans would rather play games focused around those aspects than play VS. So it could make the player base bigger.
I agree with Kairos. And kairos to answer the question in your siggy wait a while. Don't put out all at once, first flash a couple cards off the top to give her a little taste :p
Yu Yu Hakusho was Score Entertainments only game that really went under that was supposed to be good, but Inuyasha is stil going strong and after 14 sets DBZ finished but they re-created the game to be more balanced and not it has just released (DBZ: Arrival). That game has already sold out basically and it still has all the old named players playing it.
I never followed Star Wars TCG or anything but I know Pokemon is still going strong and whatnot.
Keep it as comics only, for years all of the comic TCG'w were terrible. The reason most of those games went under is becauase they sucked. Or we based on some cartoon that went off the air and then crashed, im still waiting for one of those to happen.
I would love it if DBZ and Star Wars or other things like that could be included into VS(I wonder why), Well I played DBZ since it started and well that totally went one sided and I would rather it have a type of system like VS. But it would make a lot more people interested in VS if other stuff then just superheroes were in it.
and one more thing Star Wars and DBZ are both comics so you really can't complain about either of them.
I can't wait to see what they're gonna do with Vs. cause i mean they can go in any direction with it. 1 of the reasons I started playing Vs. was the fact that I might be able to play Judge Dredd if they ever bring him out.
Manga are just Comics written and published in Japan. They have a different artistic style and subject matter but then don't U.S. comics also different in style and subject? I mean Sandman (DC/Vertigo) and Superman are as different in art style as anything in Japan compared to anything in the U.S.

Well, I know DBZ has just been re-released, and Inuyasha isn't toally dead yet. But looking at Score's history, after 6 sets the company will drop the games and find something new to work on.
Pokemon isn't exactly what I was thinking of making a part of VS system :ermm:
