Obviously someone is getting or doing something not right... I got 1st at a sneak preview with over 30 people and all I got was 3 packs and a playmat. It was the first flight and it wasnt like a deckbox was to be passed down... that was what I got. I am reading of others who got much, much more support. Can someone help me figure this out... or if Mat Berlinr. Drago can help out, that would be great too. I went to the Sneak in NJ, one headed by Alex at Kings Games.
Yeah, i dont get it. I was at the same prerelease as Matt (Tombster), and i feel kinda cheaped out that i go 6-1 and walk out with jus three packs, a playmat, and a martian manhunter ea, though i also heard that there was a serious underestimation of turnout, especially in merrick so i hope that that was the sole cause of it.
I don't know whose fault it is_…_all I know is that I drove more than 500 miles (each way) to get to the nearest JLA pre-release and when I arrived was told that it had been cancelled. As you might understand, it was a bit of an irritation.
Mine was 38 people, top 4 (which consisted of three 4-1 and one 5-0) all got the same prize. I got 3rd and got 9 packs, EA Manhunter, deck box, and playmat.
BTW: All 4-1 got 9 packs, 3-2 got 3 packs, and top 20 got an EA Manhunter...everyone else got 1 pack.
Also, I don't think that anyone won the T-Shirt, it was just a door prize.

Four rounds, swiss.

Actually, I messed up on this. Martian Manhunter EA should have gone to the top half of the field. I'm working on contacting the folks who should have gotten it and trying to sort this out. I've got addresses, phone numbers or e-mail addresses for everyone, so I'll be able to get the cards to folks, it'll just take a little time.
That's what I get for not reading the documentation as thoroughly as I should have. Extra effort to get things finished as they should have been in the first place. I've learned my lesson, though. Believe it!
Originally posted by taproot430 the venue is allowed to distribute booster prizes to how they see fit and you really cant do anything about that.
Uhh... I am not sure that is true. I know for the non-booster prizes, there are specific rules that need to be followed that UDE puts down. I don't know exactly what they are, just what I am told by my PTO. I do know the PTO doesn't have carte blanche to hand out prizes any way they want (or not hand out prizes if they want to do that instead).
I wish the standards were public so folks would know what to expect, but I see issues with not allowing PTOs the flexibility to modify the rules for their specific situations.
From what I saw of the two events I went to the basic structure was like so:
First event [with about 25-30 people]:
prizes for top 16, top 12 got Manhunter EAs, the bottom half of the top 16 got one pack, the bottom half of the top 8 got 2 or 3, and then more packs as it went from 4th to first. First, and second got a 'set' of swag [tin, playmat and shirt].
Flights afterwards gave a set of swag to first place, an EA to the top 2, and a similar [although smaller] pack pay out structure.
Also, during the first event shirts, tins and play mats were given out randomly.
I don't know if it's that the prize support that UDE is giving is changing or not. It seemed that there were much more deck boxes and play mats given away than at previous pre-releases [they ussually had them for first place of each event, and that was it]. A lot more of the prize card EAs as well ... I remember shirts being the only prize that was given out 'a lot' in earlier pre-releases.
All of the prereleases headed by Kingsgames had the same prize payout -- I went to the one in Blue Bell and got second, myself and the guy who got first got: 1 EA, 1 Playmat, and 3 packs. Furthermore, if a player had won something as a door prize and then won the same thing via placing, they got nothing (just 3 packs and an EA). A friend of mine won the deck box as a door prize and was praying to get 5th instead of 4th (which he did) so at least he got a t-shirt.
I went to Rogue's Den in Delaware on Sunday (NOT run by Kingsgames) due to the crappy prize support, 4-0'd a tournament with half as many people, and got a playmat, deck box, shirt, EA, and 5 packs for first.
DE wasn't doing drafts, however, so we drove to the Berlin NJ one to draft afterwards. We were talking to Ed (the store guy) about how we left the area to play due to the crappy prize distribution, and he said he had complained to Kingsgames that morning and actually had it fixed for his Sunday one. Apparently Kingsgames had sent out their "suggested" distribution with an official UDE letterhead and excerpts from UDE, stating that it was mandatory (which it wasn't).
All I know is, I'm playing in Delaware from now on if that keeps up.
i won my prerelease and took home:
1 t shirt
1 playmat
1 deckbox
1 martian manhunter
2 stackers
and 10 packs
i traded the 10 unopened packs for a fizzle, a cap 6 drop, a beatdown, 2 secret origins, and a beat up alfred!
i love scrubs who love packs!
last prerelease i traded my sealed pool for a beatdown! to the same exact guy that i traded my packs to this time.
