I was looking at some of the JLA cards today and I came across this card Dr. Fate Dual Affiliation and he has JLI/Shadowpact. I don't know if this is already being discussed but I take that Shadowpact will probably be a new team in the future DC booster set?
Can any body give me some background info on this team and who are the members from the comic book?

Maybe we will get another Zatanna card with some decent art. I was so disappointed in the art for the JLA Zee... it never fails with every set one of the characters that I am looking forward to has art that I do not like.

Amen to that. There is some really great art...and there is some that is complete and total crap, and it eludes me as to why Upperdeck would allow their logo to be associated with it...

As fans, we tend to think that they have total control over stuff like that, but they can't. I agree completely with the aesthetic disappointment experience, but I understand completely what a HUGE operation this is. They cannot just cut and paste art from the comic books without legal issues... and it would not look very good anyway. They contract for the artwork for the cards so we get fresh views of old friends and so they will have proper legal protection. They send verbal descriptions to the artists with deadline dates, then they start working on the next set. If a crap painting shows up near the deadline date, what options do they have? Not many, the time constraints and the contract structure forces them to go with whatever image that particular artist produced. We tell them how terrible the art is on certain cards, and it steers them to better product in the future, but it has to be a slow evolution due to the nature of the process.
Just to add to that, you've also got to assume that the art on Zatanna, as well as the art on other cards that people don't like, appeals to at least some people who play VS. Sure, I and a ton of other people absolutely hate the art on the Superman 8-drop but I know at least a few people who think it's pretty good (not great). So while you may not like the art on a certain card that you were looking forward to, there's probably someone else out there who loves Zatanna and loves the art as well.
