Hey, been out a while from the game... wondering how all my VS buddies were coming along...
Stu, still playing purple?
TheBeats.. still playing down south in Indy??
I miss the game.. I would love to get back into it since SO much has come out since I stopped because of school.. Monetary issues are of large concern... This game is expensive!! :-)
Now.. for a serious question...
I stopped playing just at the release of the first Marvel Origins expansion. How is the state of the game? Is it still as fun, still as strategic?
How has the pro circuit evolved? Is it extremely competitive? Are we looking at long term life from this game in a competitive environment?? Is this the game that WILL be an alternative to the Pro-Magic competitive scene?
the pro ciruit willalsways be competitive, but it is the driving force behind the game and strategies.
allready many magic players are taking the plunge into Vs, but the truth of the matter is most of the best Vs pro's are home grown talent, they have bee n in vs from the start.
The state of the game is liquid: delicious, goes down smooth, and by definition still has the ability to form and change to its surroundings.
The game is still as fun, but much more strategic. This is expected from an increase of card pool, of course, but there are still tricks that are just the original teams being reused in new ways that make people go, "WHOA!" Like, if you're thinking of getting back in, save your Sentinels and your F4 combo stuff, as both show up all the time.
I don't know too much about the Pro Circuit, I'm just a scrub. It's probably competitive. I have to give you a definite maybe on your last questions. The game seems to be staying up to par on the tournament scene and I wouldn't be surprised to see this one day being actually viewed (by Magic players) as the same level of the Pro-Magic scene.
So, I hear that if you get into the game as of today.. you should buy only Modern Age Cards... Which includes..?
Green Lantern
Marvel Knights
JLA
Avengers
??
You can build a solid cheap deck with avengers and squadron as shown in the PC. Buy avengers boxes, then buy the other stuff that you need. You should be fine. Except of course for those shiny Savage Beats. :)
