So ive been away from vs system for awhile. the last set i purchased was a booster box of the superman set. Now ive decided to get back into it, So i got my cards out and hopped on to this forum.
Ive been reading alot of what you guys have been writing and i can barely understad a sentence. There are so many phrases and similar stuff that ive never heard of. And it seems all the new decks are all based around the newer sets. That is understandable of course. As new sets and abilities come out, the game evolves and some of the older stuff just dont cut it.
I was just wondering. Are the older decks like "common enemy" and "big brotherhood" Or "arkham" and "brave & the bold" even effective anymore? I do plan on catchin up and putting out the necessary cash to get the new sets, But are my old decks of any use against the new waves of cards? just curious. Thanks...
when was Arkam good. Common Enemy had a really good showing in the most recent PC. Big B-Hood has to much hate but might make a comeback because of a couple of cards from the JLA set. B&B has potential if you know how to play it against the rest of the feild, but hasnt really made any kind of splash recently.
the big decks right now are Avengers Reservist, Squadren Supream rush, and Commen Enemy. Avengers and Squadren are fairly easy to play, CE takes a lot of practice to be good with.
Marvel Origins and DC Origins are still the two of the best sets released. And the bench marks for which all others are judged. Unfortunately, you got out just before it started getting good again.
Marvel Knights, Green Lantern Corp., Avengers, and JLA are all really good sets. They blow Superman and Spiderman out fo the water.
BTW - Arkham is just now getting good. Common Enemy is returning as a skill deck of choice. Big Brotherhood can be good through the hate. Titans is still in there and so is Curve Sentinels.
Trust me, I don't think we will have another Man of Steel or Web of Spiderman.
Since were on the subject of older decks, does league of assasins serve any purpose? I was just lookin through my binder and it looks like it might have some potential but im not sure what other affiliation might make it work. Or perhaps its just not worth the trouble. Any input?
if no one is expecting it, League can win. thing is, they tend to be a little easy to Tech against. i like them personally, but i dont ever take them to tourneys.
It's not the oldest sets that are mostly obsolete, it's the middle ones. Both Origins, then skip till DGL and continue till now, that's just about the entire Golden Age card pool.
and the marvel knights team as well, either for using the midnight sons team-up engine or the concealed MKKO beats, the rest of the marvel knights set has not done anything.
Originally posted by ThePancakeMan I find it surprising that a MK/Underworld hasn't made a splash somewhere. MK/Underworld is a great beatdown deck to play.
***EDIT***
Rest of MMK hasn't done anything? What about HATs?
That was Marvel Modern only. X-Statix were played heavily as well, but they didn't make any sort of impact in Golden.
