I remember the good ole days when there were 2+ American 10ks per month, nowadays, there isnt a single 10k in north america scheduled, whats up with that UDE???
it would have been nice to play in a big event the first month that the JLA set was legal, kinda a waste to have come up with some good decks just so that everyone else can come up with them by the time that we can play them in a real tournament, takes the fun out of getting a jump on the new set.
now, Id like to apologize to all non-americans, as I am sure that we definately have a better 10k schedule than alot of other places, but I can only speak to my own situation.
So, Id like to open discussion. assuming UDE is going to give us another 10k sometime before PC atlanta, where would you like to see them? I personally am planning to begin a campaign for 10k Minneapolis, we could even see who the true die-hard VS players were by holding it during the winter, only the most devoted would attend, although likely there would be few survivors as it does get kinda cold and snowy here.
I would even be ok with 10k chicago #20 or 10k orlando #3, chicago is an easy drive and relatively central (but kansas city might be slightly better), and i always like an excuse to visit stu.

Well thought out statement. Perhaps the reason we have a "monopoly" on the PCs is because we supply the majority of the money for the game. Doesn't it makes sense to cater to your biggest customers?
yes, but you ALWAYS look for OTHER customers. WotC did an amazing job colonizing japan and europe with APAC and Euros, and once the player base is there, they chopped these reaional championships for PTs. I sure Jeff Donais could at least set up worlds for one of the PCs.

True, but you have to look at the fact that WotC had literally years to build that player base in other countries. You're asking UDE to do the same thing that WotC did in years to do it in a little over a year (actually a few months in the case of Japan).
You guys just have to give the game time, it hasn't caught on everywhere yet, but in the next few years, who knows, it'll most likely be as big and popular as Magic. But you have to always remember that VS has only been around for about a year and a half, and it wasn't released all at once in other countries, USA just happened to get it first, it got the edge on it's playerbase, and has the largest playerbase right now for the game, as it builds momentum in other countries (they do do events in other countries similar to how WotC did regionals and what not) then you can expect a little more of a push towards worldwide PC's and what not.
I definately understand that the attendance in the holiday months would be down, but it would be nice to at least know when the next 10k's are going to be. What I don't understand is how the PCQ season can be so filled, and yet there are NO 10k's scheduled. UDE has done an amazing job supporting the game thus far, so we have no real reason to be worried that 10k's won't be coming soon.
Realistically for events in December there are only about 2 weeks in which to run an event, the first ones. Any later than that and you start to break into people's holiday plans. Last month you had a PC and at least one 10k, plus a national holiday. While I can understand that it's a shame for you that there isn't a 10k in the small window in December, you guys still do pretty well over there.
I am actually happy to see more of the 10k not in the States. I thought there should have been a PC in Europe, Australia, Asia - any of those would have been nice. Three out of four PCs in the US IS catering to the US. I do live in the US btw, I just like to travel:)

How quickly Thanksgiving goes away.
All the best
Tim
There's something ironic about an Englishman making fun of Thanksgiving. If you guys would have just let the Protestants worship the way they wanted to, we wouldn't have this whole problem.
