... but it seems my previous notions regarding formation were incorrect. I had always thought that if the board were set up as follows, Character D would be able to attack my opponent directly, even if my opponent had non-stunned characters able to defend.
BOARD SETUP
X = Opponents Characters
A,B,C, etc. = My characters
A B C D
E F
------------------------------------
So, do all of my opponents characters need to be stunned before a direct attack ? I thought the purpose of Formation was that only attackers/defenders across from one another could fight ? Boy, am I confused :-/
Any help would be appreciated, the finer points of this game continue to elude me !
You may only attack your opponent Directly if they have all stunned characters. IF they have hidden characters who you cannot attack then you may also attack them directly.
The point of formation is so that you can reinforce your characters when they are attacked or force your opponent to attack a stronger front row character first with their non flight character before being able to attack your weaker protected character.
A person in the front row X may attack any one of the opponents characters A,B,E they may not attack C or D however since they are "protected"
X
A,B
C,D,E
IF your character X had flight however they could attack anyone they wanted as long as they were in the front row. but they would not be able to attack if they were in your support row as only characters with range can attack from the support row.
If a character has flight and range they can attack anywhere on the board from either your support row or front row.
nope, "D" cannot attack direct, you cannot attack an opponent directly if he has any non-stunned visible characters.
even if the formations were
X
ABCD
EF
you would still have to stun X before any of your characters could attack directly. characters do not have to attack directly across from themselves, they can attack any character.
in your example
XXX
ABCD
EF
A,B,C, and D could attack any of your opponents characters, and as long as E and F have range so could they.
i hope i have explained well enough, i am having a little trouble explaining this.
Thank you guys, I'm glad I got this cleared up. You both explained it excellently :P Much appreciated ! Makes a lot more sense now, boy are the friends I play with gonna be shocked when they hear this !
