Next Saturday is a PCQ at my local store, its GA and I'm planning on playing Faces. I haven't faced any AGL decks, since I work nights so I can't go to hobby leagues and the last PCQ in Janurary there was only one AGl deck that I knew of, but he didn't play some of the more staple cards and didn't do well. I've been wondering, what does Faces try to do against it? I'm playing a modified version of the one Prosak has been using, and I'm guessing that Mikado and Mosha, and Shocker must be helpful in slowing the deck down,but is there anything else it can do?

Unfortunately the matchup isnt very good for faces, if you expect it to show up in force I would suggest upping the Mikado and Moshas.

Add in Mikados/Speedys.

Is the matchup that bad? It seems like AGL has 0 ways around Shocker.

But when does Shockr start working? Unless you lucksack into him, you search for him on 2 with Beetle/Jacket.

You play him on 3, you can stun their single AGL, Xallarap still beats.

You can stun Xallarap on 4, but Faust still brings the beats. Not to mention you only get to play a 1 drop.

So you are going:

1 - 1 drop
2 - Beetle
3 - Shocker, pay 1
4 - Pay 3, 1 drop.

You aren't really getting the power out there...

But your opponent isn't getting too much out of it either. Since you are looking to draw out the game as long as you can you are okay with trading resource points with your opponent since inevitably your card drawing will put you up in the end. The card advantage Shocker will generate you turn after turn is ridiculous. Not to mention that Dr. Light will helps you retain your board.

This is all theoretical of course - I just feel that Shocker should totally decimate this match-up especially since you can go tutor for him. That is provided you can get him promptly.

Actually, if you were to bring out Shocker on 3, it would seem more prudent to stun their Chomin. Considering that would most likely result in either them not having Xallarap or the AGL next turn, or one being stunned by his effect so it can survive, you'd be better off picking off the 'engine' rather than the 'wheels'.

Shocker should be used to take out Chomin and Mikados and Speedy can be used to deal with AGL. But from what I have seen, AGL is a little faster than Faces and I think that you sould focus on your game and don't add too much to break what makes Faces so good. I think that you shoul only use Shocker to take out Chromin like Camrock suggested but don't ignor Dr. Light because he will becaom a head ache early. Don't forget to hit you other drops good luck.

you really have to speedy them as often as u can, like by re-recruiting him so birthing chamber is very much needed shocker does help a bit so do this and give them all the beats you can
