My question about Global Domination is when you target a Location, what happens to it? Does it lose it's effect forever or just the turn? Also does Global Domination negate the entire card or just part of it. For example if you Global Domination Doomstadt does it negate that you control Dr. Doom or that your Dr. Doom gets plus 3 Def or both?
Doomstadt is a continous effect, so I don't think it can be negated (since it never enters the chain)
Global dom will negate off the chain anything that sources from a location.
So if it's the search of mountain stronghold. Gone
if it's the team up choices for a UN building, no teams are chosen, so no one is teamed up.
if it's just an activation of USS argus, then it just doesn't get to resolve it's ability that time.
Using an effect like mountain stronghold or Brother eye (the tutor one) would put an ability on the chain, this could also be negated.
it is also useful for negating Location based Team-ups (both things I stated before) because if you negate the choice of teams off the chain, then the rest of the text on the location will be pointless.
Ok I think I understand now. I have a question about Unmasked it you would be able to answer it. How does Unmasked work in concerns to powering up? I know you can still discard character cards to "power them up" but nothing happens in the form of an attack and defense boost. However, in the case of Ally abilities, they still go off regardless of the fact that Unmasked stops the powering up? Also, if this is true, how does powering up and Lost City work? Wouldn't it work along the same lines?
I believe I can answer you second question, and I have a vague idea of the first.
As for Lost city and Ally abilities (which is what I think you were getting at.) Lost city has a replacement modifier, so whenever you would 'power up' it's replaced with +3/+3
So when you powered up, if you had Lost city and someone with ally on the board, you'd have a choice. Either the power up is replaced for Lost city, or it's a normal power and the ally abilities would trigger.
I think that unmasked would prevent Ally abilities would trigger, since the power up never happened. But I can't be sure of it, sorry bout that.
quick note on Global Domination
*Global Dom and Doomstadt - Doomstadt produces a Continuos Modifier, not an effect. that is why Global Dom would not be able to be played, for lack of a better word, at Doomstadt.
*Global Dom targets the effect, not the Location, if the Location puts an effect on the chain, you can negate it with Global.
*Global Dom and team-up locations - the Team-ups that say "as an addtional cost, choose (up to) two team affiliation" cannot be negated by Global Dom since they do not put an effect on the chain. the ones that say "choose (up to) two team affiliations" can be negated since they produce an effect.
Power-ups and Lost City - Lost City is not optional, it replaces the Power-Up whether you want it to or not, so if you have Lost City face up, any ally effects you have will not trigger
If a power begins with one of the phrases "when," "whenever," or "at the start of," then it is a triggered power; triggered powers generate triggered effects on the chain.
If it has the arrow, then it is a payment power, and the arrow is separating cost on the left from effect on the right. Payment powers always work by means of effects on the chain.
If a power does not fit into either of these categories, then it is a continuous power. Continuous powers do not generate effects, and so they also don't use the chain.
Cards like Global Domination target effects, not locations or powers. Since continuous powers don't generate effects, there's nothing for Global Domination to negate.
As for Unmasked, it makes it impossible for characters to become powered-up. You can play as many power-up effects as you'd like, but when they resolve, Unmasked's modifier stops them from actually being powered-up. Lost City can't replace any power-ups, because they can't happen, and ally powers can't trigger off of the power-up, for the same reason.
Oh, and merdle, Togorian is correct that Lost City doesn't give its controller an option on the replacement---Lost City replaces your Brotherhood characters' power-ups even if you want it not to.
