This may have been asked before but I am wondering if when dealing with press, is the character's actual cost considered reduced. I ran into this issue at a group game the other day.

Player has T.O. Morrow, Thomas Oscar Morrow in play. Can that player play 3 cost press characters for 1 (using TOM's ability) if they have recruited a press character already this turn?

I said no, dude said yes. I would like some clarification please!

when a card looks at (or otherwise references) another card's cost... it's looking at the printed cost.

so, in the example you gave, it wouldn't work because your 3-cost character is still a 3-cost character... even if you could recruit him at a press discount.
