Ok, my friend and I were dicking around with xavier's dream and were curious....if you control 0 characters you are still considered to control NO stunned characters so would i get a counter? Has there been an errata? Promotional considerations paid for by the following.

I don't believe there's been any errata to that specific card.

Note that the team stamping is on the discard, not on characters in play (likely for the exact reason you specify).

Note also that it checks for opponent's stunned characters as well, not just your own.

So yes, if there are no characters in play at all, you may discard an X-Men character card to gain a counter.
