Sorry found another question. How does this card work? Does her attack increase when the defender plays a defensive card like acrobatic dodge because it says that she get +X attack while attacking or what.
Thanks again.
Concealed. (This character comes into play in the hidden area.)
While Elektra is attacking, she cannot be the target of non-ongoing plot twists your opponents control.
Whenever Elektra attacks, she gets +X ATK this attack, where X is the DEF of the defender.
when the attack is declaired legal her triggered effect is placed on the chain. once both players pass on that effect Electra's ATK value is set. if the defenders controler plays a DEF pump after the effect resolves, her ATK will not increase.
The answer to your question is the difference between effects and modifiers.
Effects go on the chain. When they come off of the chain they create a modifier.
The effect in question is a Triggered Effect. So, when Elektra becomes an attacker, her effect goes on the chain. When that effect resolves, it creates what is called a one-shot modifier. Which is to say that it happens once. It does not continuously check the defender's DEF. It checks it ONLY when the modifier is created.
So, after Elektra's effect resolves, her ATK bonus from that modifier is set. If your opponent powers-up after her effect resolves, Elektra's attack will bounce...UNLESS you find an alternate means to boost her ATK.
Does this make sense?
Effects sit on the chain waiting to create a modifier (of some kind).
Modifiers modify the game state.
Unless the Modifier is a continuous modifier, it cannot continuously check the game state to readjust itself.
Elektra's effect creates a continuous modifier, not a one-shot; it has a duration of "this attack," which one-shot modifiers can't have. The value of X is still locked in at the effect's resolution, though. Continuous modifiers from continuous powers are the ones that continually update based on the current game state.

508.2d If an effect is looking for information from the game state, an object, or objects, that information is checked on resolution of the effect.
513.3b Continuous modifiers from continuous powers will always use information from the current game state.

Thanks, HC!
I just knew when I posted, that you were going to be right behind me to clean up something I said. Thankfully, it wasn't on the level of my usual semantic stupidities!
