Yes - as I recall, they realized they made a format error sometime AFTER we started round 2. And there was really no starting over after that, since we were already into our second hour of play.
For me, since I've basically blown at every PCQ I've been in, this wasn't such a big deal - it puts everyone at the same advantage/disadvantage and since my handicap is already so huge, this may have actually helped me by messing with the "real" players.
I can see why the "real" players might be pissed, as they weren't prepared for it. Still, from what I saw on the field, the Top 8 all looked like they belonged there. Apparently, part of being a good Pro VS. player is the ability to roll with the punches. [I'll have to remember that - I need as much help as I can get. ;)]
Anyhow, none of that makes the format mistake OK in the eyes of some of the players there or UDE. And I heard a number of people give the head judge an earful re: the sudden format change. So I pretty sure this won't happen again, but I doubt anything can be done about it at this point.
If you guys get a chance, let me know what you think of my write-up. Too long? Too short? Too broken-up? Too sexy? I want to improve with each future report, so your input is appreciated.
It was a good write-up. I'm surprised someone else took the time to write-up something from the PCQ. You should keep writing.
My only one real gripe about it is how it was disjointed. I really hate TV shows that go "To be continued..." and make you spend a week thinking about what happens next. I think though it's better this way for a blog.
I agree with the bear. it was annoying to have to scroll down the page, read, scroll back, read, scroll back. Next time type it all up at once before you blog it. Other than that, great report.
