Ok I may be swimming in the deep end again but doesnt there seem to be an insane amount of possibility with these two teams together?
The engine would be two characters:
1st:
Quote
Cost: 4 Storm, Leader of the Morlocks
Team: Morlocks
ATK: 7
DEF: 7
Reservist, Evasion
Leader: Characters adjacent to Storm gain the Morlocks affiliation.
During the combat phase, characters adjacent to Storm have invulnerability unless they are in combat.
2nd:
Quote
Cost: 5 Lex Luthor, Master Manipulator
Team: Revenge Squad, Secret Society
ATK: 7
DEF: 7
Leader: Stun a ready character with cost X adjacent to Lex Luthor -> Put X +1/+1 counters on Lex Luthor. Use only once per turn and only during the combat phase.
Now think of all the fun effects you can get from Revenge Squad vengence characters and Morlocks Evasion characters all the while taking minimum stun damage and pumping up Lex.
You may have to stall a bit but thats not hard with these two teams together. Last Stand and Shrapnel Blast etc.
This is just a preliminary concept I havent figured out the other drops but this is going to turn into my pet deck I can just tell....
Cost: 6 Callisto, Morlock Queen
Team: Morlocks
Traits: Mutant - Physical
ATK: 14
DEF: 11
Evasion
Leader: Return a character adjacent to Callisto to its owner's hand -> Put a +1/+1 counter on target character you control. Use only during the combat phase.
Not nessecarily as the character to stun to Lex but maybe if the situation for some reason warranted it.
If you still had out any lower drops 1,2,3 you could stun one to Lex and then return some with Callisto's effect and put the counter/s on Lex.
so stun Ruin to lex making him a 10/10 on five 13/13 on 6 and 16/16 on 7 play 1 and 2 drop morlocks with evasion (leech is your friend), play with Battle of Metropolis, Last stand, etc...yeah it could work.
First off, sorry for the long post, and sorry if I ended up rambling. It's late, but I wanted to write it before I signed off.
So, working backwards, you'll want Lex on 5, Storm on 4, and Ruin on 3.
That leaves 2's and 1's wide open for prepping the deck.
If you're going to run Ruin, it's safe to say that you'll either be following Revenge Squad's theme of Ongoing Plot twist, or you'll just be using him to get a team-up.
For team-ups, best bets would be Dimensional Deal, Forbidden Loyalties, The Forsaken, Training Day, or Brave New World. Forbidden Loyalties is nice, because it's just one more counter for Lex, and Dimensional Deal and The Forsaken offer a tiny ATK or DEF boost.
If Morlocks is going to be the other team, and we're at least sticking to Silver Age, the only Ongoing plot twist they have to their name is Neutralized, which is nice for shutting down troublesome characters, but doesn't really hurt your opponent if they can KO it outside of the Recovery phase.
The best combination for a countered up Lex would be Morlock Justice and a lot of smaller Evasion/Vengeance characters.
Tommy, Runaway (1)
Artie, Arthur Maddicks (1)
Electric Eve, Live Wire (1)
Tar Baby, Adhesive Ally (2)
Leech, Inhibitor (2)
Healer, Life Giver (3)
Storm, Leader of the Morlocks (4)
Marrow, Gene Nation (5)
Callisto, Morlock Queen (6)
Winslow Schott <> Toyman (1)
Natasha Irons <> Starlight (2)
Kryptonite Man, K. Russell Abernathy (2)
Professor Emil Hamilton <> Ruin (3)
Metallo, Kryptonite Heart (4)
Lex Luthor, Master Manipulator (5)
These characters set up a nice curve, with your first three turns dropping as many Evasion characters as you can, trying to get the pre-requisite three stunned characters into play.
On turn 3, you can drop Ruin to help with the team-up, or to get any other Ongoing plot twist that would help, or drop Healer to help stem the Endurance loss you've been taking.
After that, hit Lex on 5 at all costs. Stun your 4 or 3 to him to give him above average stats, and every turn there-after, just let him get bigger and bigger.
A nice build would be:
3x Tommy
1x Winslow Schott <> Toyman
2x Electric Eve
2x Artie
1x Natasha Irons
2x Tar Baby
2x Leech
1x Kryptonite Man
3x Healer
3x Ruin
4x Storm
2x Metallo
3x Lex Luthor
2x Marrow
1x Callisto
3x Forbidden Loyalties
2x Dimensional Deal
3x Battle for Metropolis
2x Executive Privilege
1x Hostile Takeover
2x Never-Ending Battle
1x Imprisoned in the Source
1x Neutralized
4x Enemy of my Enemy
4x Bum's Rush
3x Morlock Justice
3x Shrapnel Blast
If all goes well, your turn five should have two evaded characters, Ruin, Storm, and Lex, with the formation like:
|EVADED| |STORM| | LEX | | RUIN |
. . . . . . . |EVADED|
Stunning Storm to Lex, as well as using Ruin to pick off a support row character with his flight and maybe a Shrapnel Blast, will let you have a beefy 11/11 Lex, that'll easily deal a nice chunk of damage.
On turn six, drop Callisto, bounce Ruin and the two Evasion characters to give Lex 3 more counters, before stunning her to Lex himself (with Storm on her other side to prevent the 6 damage), to make him a formidable 20/20 (not counting and Forbidden Loyalties counters), and finish with evading Storm to direct all attacks to Lex. Spare Shrapnel Blasts will keep him out of stun range, and a Morlock Justice to throw a lot of damage through their smallest defender will usually mean game.
The only other inclusions int his deck might be a 7 drop, like Deathstroke from DCR, and maybe some life gain cards, like Level 12 Intelligence, as you can exhaust the Evasion characters to them, before evading, for a gain instead of a loss.
Flashback81 thanks so much for writing all that up. It helped get some other ideas in my head. When I have some more time I'll post some of what I come up with and see what you think.
Massacre only takes out that exact card, name and version. Doesn't kill clone decks as they usually want to curve out using multiple different versions of the same guy.
Although a Ruin- Storm- Lex combo is good thinking, don't forget Lex's other team secret society.
They actually have a good synergy with morlocks as well having evaders at the one through three drop, and a search card that gets leaders as well-- which storm, Lex, Callisto and UltraH are.
