Hey guys,

This is probably a noob question:

If you have a character like:

Pyro St. John Allerdyce Brotherhood
[Activate] >>> Target player loses 3 endurance.

and you equip him with a med kit: Equipped character has: [Activate]>>> Gain 3 endurance.

When he activates can he do both at the same time?

I always assumed that it was one or the other but I don't know where in the rules it says it cant work this way.

Any thing with a -> is a payment power. Payment for a payment power must be payed for the effect, everything after the -> to occur.

One event to not pay for two effects. Just like your one dollar won't buy 2 one dollar items from the .99 cent store even though they are just a buck.

Probably more than you needed, but you are right.

If you could ready the character and activate him again you could choose to pay for one of the powers again, but one activation does not pay the cost for two activated abilities.
