Which one do you like better Marvel Legends or Dc Legends. I know this seems like a classic what do you like marvel or dc better Quistion. But overall the cards that came in the sets wise.
I personnally like Marvel Legends better I was way more pumped for Dc Legends because I wanted to see Green Lanturn come to action but I just currently dont like how JLA plays right now.Overall everything in Dc Legends seems to negate everything to me. In addition to that my play style in vs seems to be at this time focused on just combat type decks and Fantstic Four Xmen and Brotherhood are meeting my standards right now.
Although I do see some potential in Teen Titians for my play style being the original combat type deck.
Personally I like marvel legends better because the legends were handled better. Each legend (outside of the FF who work extremely well as a team) has a distinct deck that is at least very good. In DC legends there are guys like Martian Manhunter and Aquaman who are only JLA guys and got 2 characters and 2 other cards. The Batman and Superman card will probably see more play in Gotham and Team Superman decks than JLA. I also had a problem with Darkseid as a SecSoc legend when he is already a legend on his own team (it would be like doom being a masters of evil legend). Deathstroke should have been the other legend because he is like the Teen Titans main villain.
Marvel Legends for me, but that's in large part based on my being a Marvel comic fan rather than DC. I enjoy playing characters I'm more familiar with and have a sentinemtal attachment to from my wild and reckless comic-reading youth.
Marvel because of Deadpool. Other than that, I just think that Marvel had legends that were better. No character gets more than 2 slots in DCL? And there are 1-3 support cards for all 20 or so legends? I prefer the legends in MVL. That being said, I do want to complete my Beast Boy Legend deck, although it will be difficult, considering how many rares I still need. Sigh...
I'd say I don't like both as sets, because I found it difficult to assemble a deck.
I bought 2 boxes of MVL, and I didn't get enough rares to build at least one legend. Whereas with older sets, you could build a rather decent deck out of 2 boxes.
But then again, there were more rares in MVL, dispatched between several characters instead of teams, and I live in France and the game is quite dead here :-p
I think in future sets, they really need to bring the rare count back down to 55.
I know this may hurt the secondary market but I think people might start buying less boxes rather than more because they know they won't even come close to getting the rares that they need unless they buy at least a case (and even then you're probably not gonna get everything you need). I certainly don't have enough money to buy a case every set...how about you?
That being said, I like the characters more in DC Legends, just because I've always liked DC more than Marvel, but I liked how they did the legends in Marvel Legends a hell of a lot more.
I haven't really played DCL enough to know which set is actually better though.
Dc Legends hands down is the better set. Most of my friends have liked it better & bought more of it then we did MVL. In fact many of my friends didn't buy any MVL.
I think Marvel Legends was better @ doing the whole Legend thing. I would have liked to see the founding members of Jla fleshed out more. Then again they kinda did for dwf.
I am happy even though Dc legends has nearly broke me.
With secret society the game has so many options. I am suprised i haven't heard more people wheeling over deck possibilities.
I am constantly suprised about the price of some of the cards. Some are going way to high & others I am suprised don't go high enough.
What is wrong with T-Jet? Why are they going so low? That card is great!
I am suprised at some of the slow responses to Jla. I guess when you look at it in terms of wether it can deal with punisher or 4 drop human torch people may think it cannot. The Jla stuff can deal.
It would be nice if they reprinted & updated these legend sets every year. Even every other year would be nice much like they do in Magic.
Each set was a perfect 'base' set for their respective company.
I haven't had a lot of chance to draft or sealed with DC Legends ... but I do recall that one of the major problems some had with Marvel Legends was the Legend support causing issues with draft. With certain characters ... most of the characters AND their legend support are all rare ... so it should rarely come up in draft.
Also, DC Legends has 5 generic team-ups [multiverse in 3 slots, metropolis redux and gang up] which definitely makes it a bit easier to pull one than in Marvel Legends.
Seems like DC focused more on team synergy while Marvel focused on legend/solo synergy. Both have their strengths in that regard. I don't know if DCL really had that one blow away card that could compete in demand with something like an Only Human. Batman's a bit like that, but much less splashable. I think they're both super strong sets, but MVL is a better constructed set, which is predominantly what I play, so MVL gets the nod.
I strongly prefer DC Legends. It has vastly superior sealed play, to me, and the teams are more strongly designed. If you weren't playing a Legend in MVL, you were bored out of your mind with the set - and since I play a lot of constructed, dull teams are double-plus-ungood. I even like the Legend content a little more, as they chose 'legendary' characters, rather than 'I was in a movie recently' characters. Beyond that aspect of the Legendary content, I feel the Legend stuff in DCL better accented the teams the characters were on, rather than overpowering them.
The one place I feel MVL beat DCL was in the Legend drops - DCL did one of the worst jobs in recent memory, for me, of spacing out their drops. Superman 5/7, Starfire 5/7 (this one's terrible largely because she got 1 legend card, which only matters if you recruit her on 5, but her 5-drop isn't nearly as good as her 7), Joker 4/6, Batman 3/5, etc...
Both sets are hurt by the high rare count. For me, at least. I...was going to say, I'm looking forward to going back to the normal count, but then I recalled that we're never doing that again because we want 'super-sized sets'. Those better come with more freakin' rares per pack. I don't like the fact that, between me and my friends, we've opened 7-9 boxes and none of us have even seen a single Batman 3 or Barry 4.
What if only rares are foil, and you'd still get the 6 foils per box? It probably wouldn't matter as 30 rares in a box will still take you forever to find playsets.
I liked Marvel legends a lot more, but that's only because my favorite team the Fantastic Four were done so damn well. Family of Four + Four Freedoms Plaza+ Force Field Projection + all 4 members at the right drops = Awesome.
FOr Sealed it is Leaps and Bounds better than MVL its not even close.
It was Less about the legends and more about the teams, which I prefer.
The Legends all melded into the Teams very Well, for MVL it always seemed to be that the Legends were doing there own thing and the Team was there to fill in the gaps. With DCL its more like the Legends were the Key players on the team but the team was still important.
They did it almost Too well with Grodd, its like his whole team is Grodd Booster club.
I love DC, and I had more fun with DCL than MVL. That's probably due to the fact that GK is my Team(Anyone who's read a decklist of mine knows my fetish for Card Draw Barbie). But mechanically?
While DCL is much better for Draft because it's team centric and not legend centric, I think MVL is better for constructed. Being broke, I play more PreCon than Draft.
I think Marvel handled their legends better, as well. The DCL Legends blended into their team. That's nice, but they're also unable to take main focus like the Marvel Legends can. I think a few less crap rares and a few more Legend Centric cards(Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Robin, and Lex Luthor are what I would've wanted) so that one could build a legend deck around a hero or villain, not meet the requirements for a Legend deck and let it be. I mean, for the love of Pete, I can build a Barbara Gordon Legends deck that's got as much Barbie flavor as a Batman deck has Batman flavor. That is to say, a flavor comparable to Unsalted Rice Cakes.
Coming from a game where the story and flavor are the whole driving force of the game, I was excited about DCL. I wanted a card to represent Alfred, Bruce's life outside Batman, and his legion of allies. What did we get? What amounts to an MRP of Bat Got Your Tongue, and At Your Service. Only one of those really speaks of the flavor of Batman's story... and that card can't be pulled from Packs. Nothing that gives him Robin/Nightwing interaction. Nothing that reflects the political and financial power of Wayne Tech. Nothing about the death of his parents. As far as him as a character, we have his ability to foil ongoing plans, and we have his leadership within the JLA shown. Ok. That's great, only he already has enough 'I'm a great detective' flavored cards. What about being a freaking NINJA?! What about his years of combat experience amongst the most dangerous villains of the Multiverse? Needs moar alfred. I wanted to see the character explored more fully.
Let's compare this to Wolverine's current legend builds.
Wolverine, Bub: Ok. Good to see him in his natural environment. A killer. He lets part of himself go, and slaughters people. Approved.
Wolverine, Bloodlust: Even better. He can throw himself into battle with no hope of winning. He's sacrifice himself for victory. I dig it. Approved.
Wolverine, Covert Predator: Wait, what?! A card not dedicated to him being an unstoppable, borderline insane killing machine?! Why golly me, I do believe we have another aspect to the character. The Covert Operator. The guy who's been doing black ops for decades, and knows how to find his quarry. Approved with gusto.
Healing Factor and Adamantium Claws: His two main powers, point blank. It's what he does... though it isn't pretty. Approved.
Berserker Rage: Tek Tekity Tek Tek. We loves it. It's not a power, per se. It's an aspect of his personality. It's him letting loose and dropping every single inhibition he has to kill as much as possible. It's familiar, it's functional, it's a great card, and it's full of wolverine flavor. Approved twice.
From a story prospective, I feel a little let down by DCL. It's more Green Lantern and Batman, so I'm happy. It's insufficient flavor, so I'm left a little wanting. MVL has the flavor that draws me to play the game, so I have to say... I like MVL better.
