I just found out I will be attending my first ever Comic Con in San Diego this summer. Since southern California is home to many VS players, does anyone have any advice or tips? For example I know UDE had a booth last year, should I bring a deck? Were there any things that you recommend seeing/doing? Any things that were overrated or not worth the time?
I'm basically just trying to figure out any information that will help me prepare. Thanks!!
Well buddy
The con that happened in 07 was fun
UDE's booth was mainly for Demoing
One thing I recommend
is to grab as much swag as you can
have fun.
and bring some comfy insoles for your shoes (blisters on both feet after preview night alone)
Well if moneys no option I like the Marriot adjacent to the convention center. Parking is attrocious unless you're at the Marriot, or a vendor there the day before. Make sure where ever you stay is within walking/bike taxi distance.
If you're in for the comics day 1 is great to sift the bargin boxes before others rape them of their often rare and inexpensive treats. Last day scope out the high dollar items that haven't sold, and bid them down, they want to transport as little as possible home, and make up as much on the floor space for the weekend as they can.
The thing you need to ask yourself is which of the following things interest you?
Off the top of my head:
-Anime/manga
-American Animation
-Artists (Comics)
-Comics
-Figures/Collectables (Exclusive and non Exclusive)
-Films (Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Comic/Horror, free screenings as well)
-Film Stars (signings, appearences)
-Video Games
-Webcomics
Depending upon what you are intersted in you will be attending different panels/events and going to different places on the floor. Try taking a look at last year's schedule for ideas of what type of events and panels there are.
If you have a car you could try staying farther away and driving in early to get parking or taking the light rail service.
by early I'm guessing he's meaning like the day before because parking is getting worse each year and the main lot is usualy full by thursday.
There are lots within walking distance (even for a fatass like me) from the convention center. I used them last year. Yeah, you have to be willing to walk but hey it's a con (and I believe the biggest comic con) you should expect that...
