I was reading through my Marvel Encyclopedia recently and noticed that since I had been away from collecting comics (mid 90's), Marvel formed the New Fantastic Four with Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and Hulk. I'm interested in building a golden age deck around this team for fun. I've looked through the various copies of all of these cards and noticed the biggest two teams represented will be Marvel Knights and Spider-Friends.
Costume Change will be extremely helpful in this deck as I will have several copies of each charachter except Hulk and Johnny Blaze. I've only got the Joe Fix It and Grumpy Green Goliath versions of Hulk.

There is actual New Fantastic 4 versions of these guys with the f4 affiliation, from Origins. I don't know how good the deck is, but it would save you on Team ups, and you could focus on F4 stuff. Since they share a version you could pull the ravaged and furious assault thing.
There was versions of Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Spider-man in MVL's f4, so far i think that wolvie is the only wolvie affiliated.
I noticed those, unfortunately, I don't have a large supply of Marvel Origins and because all of those are rare, I have to revert to team ups.
Having tested the deck a couple of times, keeping the following on the table till turn 7:
Johnny Blaze, Ghost Rider - Damned (4 drop)
Wolverine, The best at what he does (5 drop)
Spider-Man, The Spectacular Spider-Man (6 drop)
At that point, even if I lose Johnny Blaze, I'm still got Wolvie and Spidey for turn 7 to bring out either the Hulk, Joe Fix It or the Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. The issue is getting to the later turns. By the time turn 4 rolls around, I've taken quite a bit of damage usually due to missing Cannonball on 2. Any ideas on consistency?
If you go to cardsinhand.com or any other single distributors, You could get them rather cheaply. Origins aren't in demand. You can still find cases for sale. Also the Spider-Friends Wolverine from MTU, he can't be stunned while attack when you control Spider-man, might be a good option.
curve it out like this so it fits.
3: Spider-man (the 3 drop)
4: Johnny Blaze (MD)
5: Hulk (MD)
6: Wolverine (SF)
7: Spider-man or Hulk
that leaves you with two affiliations, MD and SF. You can use the team specific Team ups, and searches.
Put Black Cat & ego gem, as your two, Some Aunt may Golden Oldie love. And the curve is hashed out.
With SF & Johny Blaze, you can really take advantage of his power, if you can ready Johnny (via the order or what have you)and you can pick the same character over and over again. Then Spider Senses Tingling gives your SF evasion, so you self stun and burn them for 8 to 10 (if you only pull it off once)
Yeah, carsdinhand.com is great. I've really added to my common and uncommon collection with the e-bay lots recently. Can't beat buying a mixture of 2200 cards from certain sets for a penny a piece (which includes the shipping). It's a great to get play sets of the common and uncommon cards. That, however is the reason I'm short all the rares. The closest shop to sell any booster packs or boxes is 25 miles away and if I'm going to pay shipping on singles I'm going to make sure I'm ordering enough to justify it.
Anyway, more testing has showed that I need to move away from MK. I just can't get the team-up on line soon enough even if I have it in my hand without underdropping. I like the low drop suggestions and keeping it with just two affiliations changes my original thought process a little but makes it easier to pull off. Thanks for the thoughts.
The New Fantastic Four cards from MOR are real cheap now, and you can probably get them all for a few bucks. The best thing about that is that with Signal Flare and Its Clobberin Time being reprinted in MVL you have a pretty good chance of getting them too. That would add power and consistency to the deck without all the crazy team ups. You could team up anyway, focus the deck around Wolverine since he had great support cards offered at MVL like Healing Factor and Berserker Rage. Good luck with the deck seems like a fun theme deck.
