I received this e-mail from upper deck today. Notice the mention of their new games, as well as cash for WOW stuff, and no mention of vs. Is this a sign or is this just a lack of detail follow up like usual?
Organized Play Update
Dear Upper Deck players;
Upper Deck reiterates its commitment to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists, event organizers, and retailers. Upper Deck intends to continue supporting Organized Play (OP) programs and all organizers who wish to run events. This includes Hobby Leagues, Sneak Previews, Regional Qualifiers, and all Championship tournaments.
As part of our continued support for OP, Duelist ratings will be updated on Upper Deck’s Yu-Gi-Oh! website, as usual. Also, event organizers will still be able to use MANTIS®, Upper Deck’s proprietary software, to run their Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments. Please visit WannaDuel.com for the latest information about Upper Deck’s sanctioned Yu-Gi-Oh! Organized Play events.
Thank you to everyone who took part in Upper Deck’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Regional Qualifiers this past weekend. Upper Deck knows the vital role that Duelists play in helping to create the fantastic gaming environment that keeps the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG growing. We are unwavering in our commitment to you – the players, organizers, and retailers – and will do everything within our power to maintain the same high level of Organized Play during this uncertain time.
As a company, Upper Deck is committed to providing exceptional OP events for players of all ages and skill levels. 2009 will be a very exciting year, as we continue to grow our existing OP programs, introduce new formats, and roll out programs for our new games, such as the Dinosaur King TCG and the Huntik: Secrets & Seekers TCG. Upper Deck is also proud to offer a new, in-depth “Road to Worlds” OP program for the World of Warcraft TCG and Miniatures Game, which will culminate in the 2009 World Championship, featuring $250,000 in cash and prizes.
Without a doubt, 2009 will be a great year for Upper Deck players! To find out more about the OP opportunities for all of our great games, please visit UDE.com.

Here’s to happy gaming in the New Year!
– The Upper Deck OP Team
There hasn't been any mention of VS in any emails for about a year now. I wouldn't expect that to change, regardless of whether we get new tournaments or not.
Means we have no OP; sadly we knew that. But they've been delisting VS for ages now... it doesn't mean they're going to cut it off yet, it just means that they're accepting of the current player base, and have no intention of trying to get more players to play more. It doesn't mean any more or less than we've known. We're kinda UDE's bastard child game at this point; a huge money drain that they once had high hopes for as the "Magic Killer". So we kinda have to accept what we get now.
Wow not even a single mention of Vs. Can you believe this? We fight with sweat, tears and blood to keep this game alive and what does UDE do? They reward WOW players with not only a new game but with tourneys and lots of cash.
UDE you may have given me Albert and Elsie-Dee but you really suck, and even though I still love you I don't love you as much.
Yeah I hate to rehash this, but this is pretty $h!tty on their part, and for a long time has been.
I mean seriously you can't even mention we exist, they must have got in over their head with the licensing agreements and now just have to completely kill this game to get out of them.
the email doesn´t says anything about VS, so? I know if they were going to shut down VS we would know it now, keep playing MEV and forget all this nonsense. have fun.
It's very strange marketing strategy... everyone can understand why they are not investing anything into VS anymore, but since they still do produce the game why not at least mention it in their email? What do a couple of more typing of the keys cost? A few seconds of their lives? Not mentioning VS only hurts them. If you can advertise your product (even just a little bit) without having to pay anything is ALWAYS an advantage. Very strange.
