Let's stop and look at the numbers. With a Pro Player, you get

155 set 1 boosters (conservatively $1.5 per pack) = $232.5
15 set 2 boosters = $30
15 set 3 boosters = $30
1 primal booster (15 rares/legendaries, worth at least 10x normal booster) = $20
4 normal starters (conservatively $7.5 per starter) = $30
dragon's blood starter (conservatively 1.5 times normal starter) = $15
3 months VIP = $12

That's a conservative estimate of total of $369.5 worth of cards - guaranteed minimum value of the tier without any exclusive rewards.

Then for PvE you get 8 exclusive mercenaries plus
2 copies of 2 KS exclusive PvE cards
2 copies of 12 KS exclusive alternate art PvE cards
1 lotus garden
The lotus garden is bound to be worth quite a bit (tens of dollars, if not more), and exclusives are always exclusive; bound to be worth more than $1 a piece
And loads of crafting material and equipment.

.. and finally, we get to the really good exclusive stuff:
2 copies of 5 KS exclusive alternate art PvP cards, out of which at least Extinction will be a meta-worthy card, as will Princess Victoria if inspire will ever be big. These will be worth plenty.

Plus, the thing that really makes this all pale in comparison, you get a free draft per week for life in Hex. It looks almost guaranteed that Hex will be a big thing, and this benefit alone is worth $364 a year. If you ever decide to resell your account, just because of this single thing you will get good value for your account even if you had no cards at all on it.

So even if you would value all the exclusive PvP and PvE cards at $0, the Pro Player tier is worth $733.5 within the first year of the game ($1097.5 after second year), plus the likely minimum value of $364 you can re-sell the account for the moment you get bored. So, if you see offers for $500 or $600, I suggest you go snag them right away. They're worth much more.
