Welcome back to another Causing a Scene-ario! Today we're going to take a look at a scenario built around Aladdin, since the live action version is out on Blu Ray today. (Nope, this article isn't sponsored by Disney, but if they want to toss me a few sheckels, I won't say no!)
A few ideas with this. Start with a build restriction, but not too strict. You should have a male and female character to be your Aladdin and Jasmine. You COULD require her to be a Ruler, that's up to you. Then a Mystical for your Genie, and an animal for Abu. Make sure they are 4 distinct characters. We'll also need a Magic Carpet. For this, I would suggest a light object that becomes a Bystander when a Friendly figure is given an action. Its stats, I'm thinking:
Passengers: 2
Range: 0
MV 11 Sidestep (wing symbol)
AV 9
DV 17 ESD (Vehicle symbol)
DaV 2 (Special: "Whoa. that's a good move." Carpet can use Shape Change and Perplex. Can modify +2 except for damage).
What do you think for that? Carpet should probably have Autopilot, since it is a sentient being. And he was pretty capable in his own right, so he shouldn't take damage for actions.
Now, one element that could be interesting is to "hide" your Genie in another object until summoned . Maybe you include 3 extra standard objects that you have to roll a 5/6 and Genie pops out of that object. When he does, you "unlock" the ability to make 3 wishes, unabashedly swiped from the Wyrm:
Quote
3 Wishes: Each game, a character on your team can be given FREE to make a wish to either: Choose a Standard Attack power to use until the end of your turn, or heal the character 2 clicks, or choose one combat value to modify +1 until the beginning of your next turn. This free action can be given 3 times per game
If you want to follow the movie closer, you could add to the wishes. When the first wish is made, your "Aladdin" gains Leadership and the "Ruler" Keyword. If the second wish has been used, Once per game, when "Aladdin" is KO'd, do not remove him from the game. Instead, after resolutions, place him in the square he last occupied on his final click. You could say that either "Aladdin" or "Jasmine" could get that.
There's my thoughts! What would you do for an Aladdin themed scenario? What would your team look like? Come back in two weeks for some Spooktacular idea for Halloween themes! Until then, go Cause a Scene-ario!
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
Starfire is my princess.
Nightwing is my Aladdin.
Beast Boy is my animal.
Zatanna is my mystic or genie. Raven or Miss Martian could be the mystic too.
Batmobile is my magic carpet which also the Genie could be in until summoned.
I did an Aladdin-themed event around the time of that movie's release. I set down that each team would require a 1 Mystical piece, 1 Ruler/Politician, and 1 Animal. Of course, I just had to take it a step further and make a team truly based on the main cast of the animated series.
Al Jhor Dan is the obvious choice here. Black Panther was the closest thing I had to Aladdin. Hit-Monkey just makes way too much sense for Abu. Green Oracle is a bit of a stretch. I think Jasmine kind of fits with Barbara Gordon in personality. I almost went with the Arkham Origins piece, but I justified this as her getting to pilot the magic carpet. Yata-Garasu takes the spot for Iago. Surprisingly, when I actually played him, he would always get stuck rolling 1 on the HSS breakaway, so he just had to stay there yakking their ear off. The leftover points were ID cards, and I made a point of only using them with Al Jhor Dan because pop culture references. It was actually a very interesting time.

Al is a great choice for this. Another one to use would be La Jinn from Yu Gi Oh. I actually had an extra and painted him to look like the Genie

OH man Dragonfly2099 going to the way way back! Indy Clix for the Win!
Thanks! Indy is one of my favorite sets ever.
And, thanks to you for the great thread! I’m always happy when I get a chance to break out the Indy clix! Even more so when I can get them on a theme team that’s not something like “characters with swords and a range” or “characters with guns and no range”.
