When two universes combine with one another, it becomes a threat that could affect everything. A threat that requires heroes from multiple realities to fight. In this edition of Comic Accurate, Marvel meets Wildstorm!
In 1996, Marvel teamed up with creative teams from Image comics to revitalize and reboot some properties that were flagging at the time. Captain America, Iron Man, The Avengers and The Fantastic Four. Originally their run at Heroes Reborn was supposed to be twelve issues per title. But a thirteenth issue was added to each title that crossed over Wildstorm characters with Marvel.
Something had affected their realities and combined the two. Not like Amalgam or Secret Warps where characters were merged, but histories. More like how Wildstorm was folded into the DC Universe in The New 52. The Fantastic Four had Maul in their lineup instead of Ben Grimm, Vision was a part of StormWatch, Hawkeye on WetWorks. And in the case of our build today, a different lineup to the WildC.A.T.S.
And I know you might be asking, "Hey, why is that the build for this issue and not the FF with Maul?" Well, mainly because since we're finally getting new versions of the FF in a few months, I don't want to waste effort on just suggesting playing Maul with the versions of Reed, Sue and Johnny from the Galactic Guardians and Captain America sets which also would leave twenty-seven points to fill.
So I'm going with this since, how often does one get to cook up a weird team with WildC.A.T.S. figures?
Why these figures - The WildC.A.T.S. were picked since they're the only options available, natch. I then looked for versions of Hank as Goliath, but since his time with that identity in his red outfit don't exist, I just picked this for the points. Then it was a Gorgon that rounded the points out.
Tips for running these teams - The World War 3 story didn't run long enough to show if Hank did a lot of shrinking or not, but you may want to pack in some of his Morph options just in case. Otherwise, this team is primarily close combat folks. You may want to keep Emp with Voidand Grifter, her moving around for all the Outwit, Perplex and Prob while Grifter picks off anyone not getting pounded by the others.
Let us know how the WildC.A.T.S. do for you! Next week, it's a new issue of Unclixed! Then in two weeks, it's another edition of Comic Accurate!
I didn't read that series, but want to know. Yes, it is definitely a different lineup, but if powers and abilities mesh well together, than why not. Cool idea.
This is great, thanks for bringing it to our attention. Always down for more ways to play Hank Pym. I'd be interested in learning more about that Hawkeye WetWorks team.
