X-MEN AND ALPHA FLIGHT

To continue on with my late 80's X-Men and Asgard cross-over themes. I have found memories of this story and I feel it holds up some 30 years later.

As a big fan of X-Men and Alpha Flight runs at the time, I was enthralled with this story.

I didn't want to balloon the set out to include anyone not directly tied to the story, so after looking at the numbers, I decided to do it as a Storyline Organized Play Set. I based the set design around WCR, limiting the set to Commons, Rares, Chases, and LE's.

Disrupt Electronics: Incapacitate as FREE, but only to make close attacks targeting characters with Armor, Robot, or Vehicle keyword whose square she moved through this turn (regardless of adjacency).

With Her Eyes Closed: At the beginning of your turn, Shadowcat may modify her defense +2 until your next turn, but she can't make an attack or use the Carry ability this turn.

I know its very 80's but I always really liked that costume on Kitty. It was a great uniform to delineate her move from Sprite to Shadow Cat.

This is an excellent spoiler dial for Kitty. She isn't going to carry the day single handedly but first she's going to be an irresistible target and able to position where she pleases and then she's going to right where she's needed to Outwit for maximum effect.

Also I wanted to say how happy I am to see Scientist in her keywords and her ability to carry a passenger is not only comic accurate but makes positioning teammates even on the most difficult maps a snap.

Disrupt Electronics, Hohoho Kitty where were you when I was fighting all those Ultron drone swarms. I get the feeling she's going to be big fun to run against Sentinels.

Snow giants, for when you want to take the thug appellation "Heavy" completely seriously!

Being long dialed makes them resistant to so many cheap clixing tricks and they're never less than effective all the way down the dial.

I look forward to someone finally beating them down to their naked clicks only to get slapped for 4 damage right across the face.

Also making them commons means I can afford to army build with as many giant bruisers as I'd like!

I originally planned on just having the prize 2x2 base as the only Snow giant, but... I wanted an army of snow giants also

. The naked clicks was a play off this trend Baron and I have going with those naked brutes...er, humph, I mean naked clicks on brutes.

The orange starting line will play later on another character's dial (spoiler alert, it's Loki).

Thank you for the feedback. I agree 100%. Maybe it's a bias because this is the period I started reading comics, but I just love the designs from this era.

Shifting Focus Kurt, sign me up!

This Kurt would very much like you to shoot at him and not his friends, danke schoen.

His Special Shape-Change allowing him to hop around the map dodging attacks is straight from a comic panel ( or series of comic panels!

).

A excellent start to a Shifting Focus set. I imagine taking a shot at Kurt and letting him close for free before shifting into a more offensive focus at the beginning of his turn is going to rankle your opponent......excellent.

This maybe a little too nuanced and I should just make the entire shape change work on a 4-6.
