You apply the Enhancement after the initial action. If the characters were set up as such:
XEX
XXX
ABC
XXX
Legend
E-Boomerang
A,B,C-The poor EE targets
Figure A would take 4, splash damage from B and from being directly hit. Figure B would take 6, splash damage from A and C and from being directly hit; and Figure C would also take 4, from splash damage from B and being directly hit.
I wanted to add that defense abilities can be a factor whenever these figures take damage. INV and IMP (if the roll is lower than 5) soak up 2 damage. Super Senses can change the splash damage factor as well. If Figure B made their super senses and IMP roll, every affected figures potential damage is reduced by 2. The Super Senses figure would still take 4 because splash damage cannot be avoided.
I actually did this just today with Boomerang, though I used Enhancement rather than SHIELD. He was running an Invisigirl formation, and boy did it ever backfire on him!
ok, because you all are not listening, i'll make it REALY easy on you

a,c,and D are all enemies. S is a shield agen and b is boomerang.
none of the opposing figs are ajacent to eachother.
if I up the damage EE does, will all 3 (that is A,C and D for those of you lost) take 2 damage from the EE attack.
NO defence ability. No one is ajacent. Straight question....yes or NO
Wow! You are amazingly rude man! Zgrose is more generous than I am. Take off!
Your initial post said NOTHING about the three figures not being adjacent. The whole point of using Energy Explosion in the first place is to take advantage of the splash damage. It's natural to assume that the figures are adjacent, because otherwise there's no bloody point in using EE at all.

I wanted to follow up on this.
According to the FAQ, A takes 3 damage. B takes 4, C takes 3 because the Enhancement is added after all the damages are totaled. A takes 1 for the hit, 1 for the splash (from B) and +1 for Enhancement.
From the FAQ:
Quote
Powers that increase damage dealt, such as Enhancement, increase total damage dealt to a character, even if that character was successfully hit by multiple instances of indirect Energy Explosion damage from a multiple-target Energy Explosion attack.

A character with Energy Explosion targets characters A and C with a multiple-target Energy Explosion attack, and an adjacent friendly figure uses Enhancement to increase damage dealt from this attack by 1. The attack roll hits characters A and C, and is higher than character B’s defense value as well. Characters A and C are dealt a total of 2 damage (1 for energy Explosion, plus 1 for Enhancement). Character B is dealt a total of 3 damage (1 for each successful indirect hit for a total of 2, plus 1 for Enhancement).

Well if you are going to ask for an answer to a question, it would help greatly if you were as clear as possible. It's not a matter of the other posters on this thread not listening, it is because your ideas were unclear.
On another note, if you are going to criticize someone, make sure that you maintain your professionalism at all times. People will take you more seriously and be just as willing to help you. Be glad that someone took time out of their schedule to help you.
I appriciate all the good advice I recive here & appologize for the tone of that post, It's kind of a moot point Now, as Whizkids has updated the ruling anyway.
I was curious, though Does any1 Know exactly how the SS TA works? I need it explained at lentgh for thisi purpose: I played against a team, Doc Doom, Deadshot, Chameleon, & a medic. According to how my friend played it it's the character BESIDE the SS member that gets the healing roll, I belive in my heart that is more akin to the FF TA & that the SS member gets the roll, & the ajacent char. is just KO'd. is there a clearer wording or this that may be found, or is an SS WC team really unkillible?
