Doctor doom and a doombot are utilizing their wild card TA to copy the Mystic TA from a teammate.
Doctor doom is hit he elects to masterming the damage to the doombot. does the attacking character still take 1 click of damage? the doombot has the mystic team ability.

i assume if i mastermind the damage to a figure with no mystic TA then the attacker takes no damage.

your assumption would be the same I make. I think of mastermind as almost "re-dirrecting" the attack

The attacker does not take a retaliation click if you mastermind the damage to any figure (even a mystic).

from the FAQ
"• When a character with Mastermind deals damage to a friendly adjacent figure, that damage is not considered an
attack, and powers and team abilities that require a character be hit or dealt damage “by an attack” or “from an
attack” do not function against damage dealt through Mastermind."

You need to have two things happen to activate Mystics: One, the Mystic has to take the damage. (In this case Doctor Doom did not take any damage). Two, the Mystic has to be attacked (In this case, mastermind does not count as an attack).

So also, if you had a Mystic with toughness, and for some reason it was attacked with a 1 damage (maybe the attacker was hoping for a crit), then the Mystic would not take damage and the attacker would not be retaliated against.
