All of the barrier pieces you place must be within the casters range. Additionally, according to the FAQ, the caster must have line of fire to at least one of the squares.
Yeah they changed the rules. I was a little shocked too. but this will force all of us to play smarter.

They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far." Robert Downey/Tony Stark
Last question (I have a barrier team going Friday), it seems the rule is all four barriers must be within range, is that correct? And one must be within LOS, is that correct? Thanks all.
What about Characters with 0 range and Barrier? Doesn't Donna Troy have barrier with 0 range? Does she have to stack all 4 under her so she is taller than eveyone else?
Or do all 4 have to be in adjoining adjascent squares to her?
Since it represents her "force field" so-to-speak I would imagine they would just envelop her. Adjacent squares next to the fig are considered 0 range for this purpose. After all, what good would it be for Incap (on S.W.A.T. for instance) to have 0 range? He's not going to stun himself. heh

Actually, Incapacitate can be a ranged or close combat action. So the SWAT guy can use his Incapacitate with a 0 range because he's making a close combat attack, not because he can use his power at a 0 range.
But the last clarification we had on Troia & Donna Troy was that yes, all of the barrier pieces had to be adjacent to her.
