Is there a definition of what is elevated terrain?
Is all blocking terrain on a outdoor map elevated or does the terrain feature require a step ladder attached to it?
For example the Avenger's Mansion Outdoor Map has what looks like 2 wooden buildings with what might be steps (or a car port) stuck on the side.
Are these two features elevated terrain with steps up to them? (or maybe elevated terrain without steps, or even not elevated at all because there is no step ladder up to them?)
A decent definition in the rules does not seem like much to ask
I just purchased that map set today and had similar questions. Just where are the "top" and "bottom" of those stairs? And what sections are elevated terrain? Also, in the danger room is that grass supposed to be hindering terrain? My guess is no, but then ... why is it there if it isn't? I suppose al players can agree on "ground rules", but it is strange that it comes out of the box so ambiguous and a hassle to have to go over little details like that against new opponents each time.
Before I take a pen to my map and write an E on every square that I think is elevated terrain anyone out there got any ideas on what exactly is elevated terrain (ladder required or not)?
I don't have the map in front of me, but one end of the stairs should be open (no thick black line). If so, then that is the bottom of the stairs. The other stair square is the elevated square and the thick black line between the stair and the roof should not be there.
Anything with a thin black line that follows the outline of the object is considered hindering terrain. Anything with a thick black line that follows the edges of the squares the object is in is considered blocking terrain. If you are outdoors, there are two types of blocking terrain. Elevated terrain is blocking terrain with a ladder or stairs attached to it. If there's no ladder or stairs, then it is considered either outdoor blicking terrain or elevated blocking terrain, depending where it's located. Only figures with Leap/Climb or fliers can end their movement on OBT or EBT.
That's the abbreviated answer.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
I think I was most confused by the fact that the stairs had a gradient and were oriented the same way, but on one set of stairs it appears that the "bottom" is on one side and on another it appears that the "bottom" is on the OTHER side of the stairs, even though the graphic is exactly the same. Wouldn't it have just taken about 5 seconds to flip the graphic so that the stairs aren't Dali-esque?
