Do we have an image of the sculpt? "Pilot" is an odd word to use for Hawkeye, though I get that it's really just simulating a quiver of trick arrows here, so I wondered if he's on that sky-cycle or something.

If you want to get weirder with it, AV60 Jocasta would give him the choice between Precision/Outwit, Pen/RCE, or Super Strength/Shape Change to give him an extra layer of defense for turns when he's clearing. MSDP 099 Dr. Strange would let him pick between Pen/Perplex, EE/Outwit, or Precision/Support.

Try this...your assumption was correct

I think the pilot trait can be interpreted differently depending on what kind of character you pick:

1. If you pick another Hawkeye dial, the whole setup represents the one and only Hawkeye riding his sky-cycle with a bunch of trick arrows. When the sky-cycle crashes, Hawkeye jumps off for a last stand, represented by Sideline-Hawkeye entering the map.
2. If you pick a character with the Avengers or marksman keywords, the setup instead represents 2 people on the sky-cycle riding together. And the other person jumps off for a last stand when Hawkeye crashes with the sky-cycle.

That aside, the Volley Shot effect is a really fun idea

The Volley Shot is really similar to NOT Deadshot's One Shot, One Kill trait. It's a little worse, but also easier to use repeatedly.

Sure, but the fact that the range is so specifically restricted really helps one to imagine the arc motion of a volley shot.
