Cosmic Spiderman Chase Tournament Battle Log
This was the second chase tournament I attended
in my Heroclix career, the first being the Chase for Throg. In the Throg tourney I felt I was to new to really do well, I was still struggling with the rules and basic strategy. Now with the Cosmic tourney I brought a little more experience to the table. With the help and advice of many Veteran players I was able to fight my way into 5th place! The following is a battle log, of my teams and experiences on the day of the Cosmic Tournament.
ROUND 1
500pt teams
Team: Veteran Buster
HulkBuster-165
Chief-63
Rip Hunter-97
Mr. Fantastic-100
Scarlet Spider-72
Tombstone
Telephone Booth
Force Field Generator
Total: 497
Round one, I had to fight my friend Dylan in a 500 point show down. He was using his Ms. Marvel Skrull team. I basically had a solid set up, I was able to move and attack with Scarlet, and Hulkbuster to put Marvel away early. I really enjoyed using the Hulkbuster, he has amazing move and attack, being able to use Charge or Running Shot. And Scarlet can also be deadly, just sucks he needs to take a phone booth click to get his Move and Attack.
And the Scientist theme team Probs really helped. It was a close match, Dylan played a great game, but the dice were more in my favor.
ROUND 2
400pt Teams
Team: Bats n' Cats
Batman and Catwoman-142
Nightcrawler-86
The Question-37
Cave Carson-24
Knot Top-25
Scarecrow-85
Kinetic Accelerator
Eleha'al Vine
Structural Integrity Field
Total: 399
Round two, I was paired up with Veteran player Roland! It was Crawler vs Crawler! I felt like I had a little bit of an advantage, due to Batman and Catwomans ability to remove an opponents object from the game. I removed his Kinetic. But I placed my team a little to close to his, so the Kinetic really didn't matter, plus his crawler blew my kinetic up right off the bat. He started grabbing and killing my support guys one by one, while I made risky attempts to snag his Crawler with my own; by doing this I was able to force him to use all but one of his theme team Probs but was unable to land a successful attack on Crawler. I then proceeded to waste time with Batman, when I should've just attacked. I lost, but I learned a lot, and I did manage to gain 77 points or so. I was a good game.
ROUND 3
400pt Teams
Team: Iron America
Captain America-72
War Machin-137
Gamora-73
Gee-40
The Holiday Killer-43
The Scarlet Witch-35
Opened Hydrant
Dynamostat
Standard Light
Round three was against another Veteran player, Eric. This time I wasn't so lucky, he was using his Crawler team. And I had no defense against it. He won the map roll using his theme team, and picked the prison. I know It was an automatic loss for me, but I still wanted to get a few points. So I did my best to get across the field, Warmachine was taken first, then Gee. I was almost able to kill his Karate Kid, which might have given me enough points to maybe make it to Final Four but Captain America rolled double ones on the break-away running shot. So he sweep me, I took no points, that loss really hurt, I was ready to leave after that, lol! Back to back losses from the same crawler team can be a little frustrating. But after a pep talk, and some food; I was ready to push on.
ROUND 4
500pt Teams
Team: The Manhattan Project
This Team was built by one of my best friends
Geoff. He was sadly unable to make it to the event on account of work. I'm not going to post his build, because it belongs to him, and I don't know how he would feel about that.
I will say that I love playing this team, and it went on to not only pull a 500 point sweep on my last opponent, but also to co-win the BATTLE ROYAL to win Adi a Buy it By the Brick SPIDERMAN !!!
Over all, I had a great time! Thank you to all the Veteran players for helping me build teams , giving me pieces and Items, letting me borrow pieces and items, and just sharing your knowledge of an amazing game. Special shout out to Jeff, Roland, Jim, Tyler, Dustin, Eric, and Pasky! Thanks for dealing with all my dumb ### questions, and all the love. I will remember you all as I continue to grow, as a player, and a person. Thank you all.
