Wyverns are a huge component in the deck. Most people don't like them because it takes away from a Normal summon the same turn. The deck is based completely on Special Summoning big monsters. My favorite tech in the deck is Card of Safe Return. I'm currently only running 2 Wyverns, but Future Fusion or Foolish Burial really assists me getting fodder for CoSR. I could post a deck list that I have been running lately if you like. I have not play tested our Koaki Meiru Dragos yet. It seems it hurt the guy in the Nats at some point though. I have playtested the Japanese version of Hopeless, running a couple DDV and EEV. These are amazing against Synchro Cat and Glads.
I really like Koa'ki Meiru Drago in this deck. Honestly I think I need to change the name of this deck since this really isn't a Hopeless Dragon variant anymore. This version of the deck is much less reliant on spitting big monsters onto the field and much more focused on control in parallel with the occasional big monsters.
I do think Wyvern should be a huge part of this deck which is why I plan on testing out a complete set and then cutting back from there if necessary. I just wish I could find people that actually had the card.
DDV is in my side deck along with a few other monsters to make it more accessible. EEV isn't something I've played around with yet but it's certainly something I could try out.
Got two copies of Wyvern now so I really can't wait to test this deck again. It's a lot more competitive than I thought it would be originally, thought probably not top tier yet.
I know the deck at Nationals focused a lot more on getting Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon out with Wyvern but I tend to look at Wyvern more as a beat stick and a back up plan. If I draw into Future Fusion early I'll definitely use it to fill my Graveyard with some combination of Wyvern, Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Koa'ki Meiru Drago and Totem Dragon. If I don't hit it I'll try to play more of a control game until I can get Totem Dragon into the Graveyard so I can Special Summon it and then remove it to drop Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.
Suggestions, comments, and concerns are always welcome.
1've seen several Japanese decks include a single copy of Prime material dragon. I believe the Nats deck ran it as well.
I do have a single copy of Prime Material Dragon in the deck, did I leave it off the deck list by mistake? No it looks like I did include it. I like Prime Material Dragon for a number of reasons, especially because of it's ability to mess with Dark Strike Fighter. Yes Dark Strike Fighter can run over Prime Material, but it's still a deterrent from Main Phase 2 Dark Strike Fighter shenanigans if you haven't cleared your opponent's field.
As a long time Virus player, let me tell you that EEV is @$$-tons of fun. I can't see it giving you any more of an edge or a punch then you've already got going, but if you're in a dominating position, a well-placed and called EEV just seals the deal. It also helps tell some of the more spell-heavy builds out there to STFU quite nicely, and can take a big dose of fear out before you go on an offensive. All in all, I'd say EEV is less of a tech card, and more of a comfort blanket. It doesn't get you any further then you already are, but it sure helps keep you there.

I've been looking into Side Decking all of the Virus(es, ies?) in this deck. While I don't own Crush Card Virus right now I think it would work nicely here with a slight line up change in the Side Deck to add in Phantom of Chaos.
with burst breath though, you nuke your own mon as well, since its worded as "all monsters on the field". so you would have to be careful in how you use it.
True but the big beaters are pretty much safe from tributing a 1900 beater. REDMD, Vandy, Blue-eyes and I think horus will all be completely safe. Also you might be chaining to their destruction in the first place anyway.
I've given Burst Breath a little bit of thought because of the play that it got at Nationals. It, Dragon's Mirror and Stamping Destruction are really the only decent support cards that Dragons have. I need to look at the top decks and see what I'd be able to take out with Burst Breat, I may Side Deck it for the time being.
this just may be me. but a funny sort of tech against things like glads would be 1 or 2 decoy? this way, it sort of slows down their attacking every turn. can be braught out with masked, works with future, debris, and of coarse, REDMD's special summon. idk. i havent tested this out. but i thought it would be a good stall, or stopper for glads. or at least force them to use their s/t on a tiny mon like himself.
In my build (BRDMD I call mine) I add
Strong Wind Dragon
******
2400/1000
Dragon/ effect
This card cannot be destroyed in battle with a monster that has the same ATK. When this card is Tribute Summoned by Tributing a Dragon-Type monster, it gains ATK equal to half the ATK of the Tributed monster. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.
so this guy pretty funny when you tribe for FGD for the 2500 attack bloost (4900) on a def monster

I looked at Decoy Dragon the other night but haven't decided on it yet. I went back and looked at every Dragon in the game to see if there were other options that I should be evaluating, Decoy Dragon was one of the only things that stuck out at me.

I was running Strong Wind Dragon in the original build of this deck but honestly his effect is lack luster in this deck. Why would I want to tribute Five-Headed Dragon for this, I'd be sacrificing 100 Attack points for a Monster that isn't tied to Future Fusion. That's what made this not worth it for me. At least Prime Material Dragon gives me some added value.
Have you given thought to card of safe return? Wyvern, totem, REDMD all can utilize it. And maybe try out dragon ice in place of twin-headed? Works well with the aformentioned CoSR and is decent defense to any swarm.

I can't remember if I've considered Card of Safe Return or not, it does seem like it would mesh well with the deck, I'm just tight on space right now so I'm not 100% sure where it would fit in. Maybe in place of Different Dimension Reincarnation.
Dragon Ice I'll have to think about, I don't own a copy right now so I'd have to hunt for one a bit. I like Twin-Headed Behemoth because it gives me a Level 3 monster or access to Level 7 Synchros along with Masked Dragon. I just fear that Dragon Ice will be easily smashed by whatever Synchro Monster my opponent Special Summons.
