Cynosure+Saunders+ArP
Harlequin+Tilmann
3x Merc Sala
1x WD Raiden
Merc FP
Why do you play Harlequin? Have you a synergy between Cynosure firing from behind the wall and Harlequin? I've played Spettro Raven and WH Kelswa, and Spettro used its Homing Beacon to allow the rest shooting through walls.

Well, Harlequin I find is a nice wingman, and can serve Cynosure well in the capacity as a spotter and close quarter defender along with the infantry. I use it to tag stuff over blocking (using the Merc FP, you've got a 14 attack with no DV modifiers for your opponent) and then let loose with Cynosure as a follow up. So, yes, similar to your set up with Spettro, same sort of role, just more heavy duty and multi-purpose.

I've just meant that Harlequin's Homing Beacon is a bit redunant here as Cynosure can shoot over walls anyway :) Plus, you cannot rely on your FP, as True Grit is quite popular.
My build also had Merc FP, but it was generally used for Cynosure or Kelswa. Spettro stepped forward and used Homing Beacon to mark the target for heavy-hitters. Its tremendous Defense allowed it to be exposed.

The Homing Beacon is not redundant, it just doesn't fit the role you're thinking it in. Sure, Cynosure fires over walls, but I'm not going to say no to the chance of doing 5 damage instead of 3 if Harlequin lands a HB shot. It doesn't have as high defense, I'll give you that, but the mech is meant to last longer in the field than the Raven, which, despite high defense against range, is rather fragile and slower than my medium. The 'self repair' ability is also useful as it keeps Harlequin going longer. Not knocking your build, I love it, just defending the role of Harlequin in my army :) Also, if TG is used, so be it, my army will cope just fine without it as well!
Quick question on the pilot choices for "Seka's Pride". Everyone seems to use Aiko Ryohara but doesn't Lee Vickers seem to give the same stats plus he's Clan Wolf which is maybe allied with Wolf Hunters? Please clear this one up for me as to why Aiko is superior to Lee.
It isnt.
There are just few, +2 defense heavy pilots, and Aiko is only merc around,
for quite a while. So its more of a habit, then anything else.
Im not sure about Wolf absorption of Hunters, but if it valid, that would put
Vickers in front, since you wouldnt be paying recruitment cost.
Wolf Hunters remain an independant faction though they have a lot in common with Clan Wolf and Steel Wolf. The House Alliance actually is between the other two factions while the Hunters get off on being a "Mercenary Faction". All three Factions share the same kind of Berserker Dial, and the Hunters get free use of the pilots and equipment from the other two factions without recruitment conflicts.
I probably said it backwards but the point is that a free exchange of units from all three factions can be treated as if they were just one faction. Those with the Wolf Hunter symbol get the benefit of being recruited by other factions as mercenaries.
Well here we are in 2018! I'm still fascinated with the sculpt and paint quality of these 15 year old miniatures. It's nostalgic trip reading these threads.. I recently decided Mechwarrior is probably one of the greatest tabletop games ever made. Easily wizkids best to this date!
For a few years we've been playing Mechwarrior after Heroclix events and our play group has grown to about a dozen players. I average 3-6 Heroclix players at events but recently we've had a strong 8 or so players regularly attend my mechwarrior events!
We play 600 or 900 points AOD rules with 1 exception. All sets are legal. Pre AOD mechs can use gear and pilots based on weight class. Faction purity depends on night (scenario rules etc) with a strong emphasis for Faction Pure or bust ( a few mercs ok).
After Solaris box sets (Cynosure) and a handful of ridiculous mechs like SAD, BR Soli and Spettro, it's a healthy change. This opens up the door for more viable faction pure teams and eliminates Rasalhague FP infantry swarm dominance and cheesy spotter tank drops.
Sad is Sekas Pride Vulture with Aiko Pilot and Decoy gear.
Zombie is BR faction Pride with J100 Recovery Vehicle and Basil "The Edge Kozaka" J37 Transport.
Here are a few AoD mech teams that could effectively combat zombie, infantry swarms, TD's and SAD
*Nova Cat teams built around geared shadowcats/wendigo.
*Teams with 'spotters', Ryu and LE julz Night stalkers, (evade/decoy canceling pilots) and Cynosure.
This leaves only a small pool of competitive mechs to work with in an AOD setting. Mechs like Black Rose,Shiro's, Peacemaker,Nova Cat, Widowmaker, and Refuge are great but can be difficult to pilot against faction pride rasalhague swarms. Especially without True Grit.
By adding Dark Age Mechs one can enjoy a fun and exciting way to play that expands army building potential without breaking the bank!
Here is a list of Dark Age mechs that perform well with pilots and gear.
ROTS Black Knight with Aiko and Decoy
Barry Segal Black Knight
Kava Graves Thor
Dock Steward Warhammer
Federick Bo Shadowcat
One Eyed Jack Jupiter
Arnis Drummond Dasher II
Bounty Hunter Marauder
Declan Devalis Marauder
Tolin Men Shen Yi
Catalina Trujillo Shen Yi
ROTS Jonah Levin Atlas
Danni Haag Arbalest
Janis Nova Cat Arbalest
Geoff Morgan Longbow
BR Legionnaire
many DA Steel Wolves mechs are extremely good with pilots/gear such as the Madcat II's and Kodiak! Sadia/Seka Wolf etc...
CJF mechs can DFA a bit easier/accurately with the help of Kelly Bonilla and other pilots.
This is just a small example of the many mechs that can attain SAD like uberness!
By allowing Dark Age mechs, games can be more enjoyable under the AoD rule set!
I only play at home with my cousin and a friend now. 3 of my group moved away and a fourth gave his armies to a cousin out of area.
We've dabbled with equipment and pilots on DA mechs. Works fairly well. No pilots on LE mechs as they already have a pilot in them (more a fluff thing I guess).
