If I didn't dislike Christmas music as much as is humanly possible, I think I'm there as of last night.
There was an incident last night. It was a bad one. The overbearingness of Burl Ives INSISTING that you have a Holly Jolly Christmas while you are concerned with the fact that someone's life may be hanging in the balance and expiring while you attempt, perhaps in vain, to quickly do what you need to help them cannot be overstated.
Strangely, I have made many complaints about the fact that our patrol room does not have running water and we, as medical professionals need to be able to quickly and easily wash our hands.
That's kinda funny, huh?
Irony?
I like how this post ties the whole thread together.

I just finished reading the entire Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comic series again, and damn, those were some fun comics.
I've also been perusing some of the other random Star Wars comics and books I have, and I've concluded that the one thing I really hope we DON'T see in the new Star Wars movies is another jedi "falling" to the dark side and then being redeemed, espeically if their name is Skywalker.
It was kind of a big deal the first time it happened in RotJ, but since then, there's been:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Ulic Qel-Droma
Darth Revan
Quinlan Vos
Kyle Katarn
Luke Skywalker
Kyp Durron
Jacen Solo
among others.
I'm really hoping we get something new, and not the fall and redemption story again.

While I agree that the same story is tired and I find the EU rehash to be boring, what would you suggest as an alternative.
Your post had me thinkin'. And I'm not coming up with a different Star Wars storyline that would last for three movies, honor what came before, and move in a new and intriguing direction.

I was reading last night about the planned invasion storyline that Dark Horse comics and Del Rey were cooking up before Lucasfilm decided to switch the book licence to Bantam. Bantam's version of the storyline became the New Jedi Order series with the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, but the original proposal had the invaders as users of the dark side of the force, and possibly even the species from which the Sith originated.
That could work on screen.
A similar thought bouncing around in my head is that given the title of the movie and what we know about it so far, rather than an invasion force, it's just a bunch of force users discovering their abilities. Maybe the inquisitor from the rebels cartoon starts training a new generation of Sith, maybe it's someone else. But going from the premise that Luke is in seclusion and something needs to draw him out, what would be better than an army of Sith motivating him to train his own students to level the playing field?
Now, there have been armies of Sith in the comics and maybe books before, but in the movies, we've just had armies of droids, clones in white armor, and not-necessarily-clones in white armor. A full army of dark side users would be something that we haven't seen on-screen before, but could still honor the previous material.
Also, I want ot see a kick-ass female Jedi (or Sith.)
And I wouldn't mind seeing Ewan McGregor take over as the ghost of Obi-Wan if that's still a thing. I thought he was great in episodes II and III, given what he had to work with.
And one more "don't"--enough freakin' Death Stars already.

Nice. I was wishing the actual Krampus would show up and take care of some problem children at work last night.

Love the first paragraph. It's a little Borg (Oh, no, there's this species we never ran into who can kick our ass!) but I'd be okay with it.
Good call on the lack of female Force users. They (and their midriffs) pop up so regularly in the EU that I never noticed that there are, like, NONE in the movies.
I'll one-up your Death Star ban, and go with a No Mega/SuperWeapon ban.
THAT's another thing that's been played out in the EU.

I think this nearly all-day every day. I'm a little different, though, in that I want the Krampus to take on the parents as, in most cases, I clearly see them as the cause.
We should set a day for a Vlad vs. Haven Annoying Child Diary Day. I'm really curious. I think it's possible, depending on your population, for you to encounter more, and more annoying children, than I do in a day.

Yeah, that was meant to be inclusive of other Death Star-type weapons. Because the Sun Crusher is really just another Death Star, and so are a few other things.

Have I ever mentioned that the hotel I work at is near an instituion that houses essentially juvenile delinquents? Whenever they have some kind of vistor's day or something like that, we end up with a bunch of the parents staying here. And the parents are routinely as bad as or worse than the kids.

I think you would probably win on average per day. I work all midnights now, and mostly on weeknights, so I don't see that many kids anymore. It's mostly when I work on a weekend or holiday that I have to deal with them, and once again, I find that the adults are often as bad as the kids.

No.
You have never mentioned this before that I can remember.

I snorted really loudly and now my sinuses hurt.
Damn. That sucks, Dude.
Yeah, we've had problems with people smoking in the rooms, stealing stuff, damaging stuff, and generally being crazy. At one point we quit taking reservations for them entirely, but that only lasted a few months before the manager changed her mind.
