As an X-fan, and someone who loves to build X teams, I am both happy and sad.
Happy:
This Cyclops kicks major butt and will be a nice piece to use and will likely see a lot of play from me.
Sad:
Yet another 100+ point X-Men character. Personally, I'd much rather all the X-Men do one thing very well and be anywhere from 50-80 points with only the VERY powerful figures being over 100. (I always pictured Cyclops in the Captain America point range, but being better at ranged combat then close combat) The problem is lately all the X-Men are getting the 100 point treatment. In a 300 game you might only get 3 X-Men on a team together, which just seems kinda wrong. I'm actually happier with the Emma Frost because she is only 81 points.
SO the comic book X-fan in me is happy, but the Heroclix X-fan in me is a little sad, and a little worried that being able to run an X-team in the future will have to rely on picking 2 or 3 instead of running a TEAM of 5 or 6.

I'll echo this sentiment. The original IC X-Men were one of the better specialized teams back in the early days, with each character filling a pretty specific role. Hell, even the Danger Room starter did it well!
Though I will say that having a Vet, 616 Cyclops is pretty much a necessity at this point. Still, I wouldn't scoff at a 60-point version.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?

This is my opinion in general - Wizkids should look at figures with teams in mind. Conceptually, I like what they did with DC 75's Superman - a version of Superman that's under 180 points, for a figure that typically goes for over 210 points. Meanwhile, Cyclops strikes me as the sort of figure who could easily come in at around 60-80 points and still properly be "Cyclops."
Hopefully the rest of the X-Men come in as fairly point efficient. Not that I mind the Cyclops we have here - the dial is certainly playable, and that's one of the most important factors for a figure.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!
I agree as well. I miss the low cost X-men as you actually get a "team" outta them.
I must say this new Cyclops is very nice and makes the X-men a viable team again. First Nightcrawler helped this struggling team and now Cyclops. Makes me hopeful for a New Wolverine (less than 100 please) and an appropriate Psylocke (with mind control for the first time ever!!).
I'm also wondering about the Brotherhood/Acolytes/Marauders that are possible here.

It is the surge of special power/traits to make characters more "accurate" but also increases their point costs.
It has me rooting more to see figures that are part of teams that :
haven't been clixed before, don't need special powers/traits , and will be more team friendly because of the lower point cost. An example would be Pantha for Teen Titans ( ~ 35 points of Weapon X or a Katana-esque dial would be sweet ).

I have to disagree a little with that one. I think that special powers cost less than standard powers in a lot of cases. If you compare point costs of older figures with standard powers to newer figures with special powers that incorporate multiple standard powers and unique ones, you will see that you get more bang for your buck.
Emma Frost is disappointing, to say the least. Was hoping to get a power where you could chose either her Psionic powers or her Diamond form. For example, her power could have read:
At the beginning of your turn, chose a power. This power cannot be changed until next turn.
OMEGA-LEVEL TELEPATH
Emma Frost can use Mind Control, Psychic Blast and Super Senses. When targeted by Mind Control, has +2 to her defense value.
DIAMOND FORM
Emma Frost can use Invulnerability, Close Combat Expert and Battle Fury. When targeted by Psychic Blast, has +2 to her defense value.
