Real Name: Leead Referred to As: Leead, Doc, Doom, Doomsie, etc. Age: 21 Location: Philadelphia, PA
Mafia Info: I started with Peers' first Mafia game, and stuck with it since (albeit with looong breaks in the middle.) I've barely played in the past four years, and haven't modded, but back in the day I was in most active games, and modded three or four of my own. I like weird roles and games that deemphasize themes, role claims, write-ups, and power-dependence, and emphasize carefully reading posts and vote records. I've sorta grown up with Realms Mafia over the years, and at different stages have handled things quite differently around these parts...
Personal Info: From New Jersey, currently living in Philadelphia, attending University of Pennsylvania. I'm studying Intellectual History and Humanistic Philosophy, hopefully writing an honors thesis in history this year. Then the plans to pursue rabbinic ordination and hopefully eventually a PhD in history. Eventual goal is something in Jewish communal leadership and education.
Wow didn’t realize this was so recent of an update. It’s also spot on. Wrote that thesis, graduated, finishing rabbinic school now, and got a job to be the Rabbi of U of Maryland next year. Pretty wild.
Leave's become most beautiful when they're about to die
In the years since the first post, life change a bit. In late 2012 I left London and moved to Melbourne, Australia. Came here on a working holiday and planned to stay for 2 years. I mostly worked as a substitute teacher, except for a brief stint where I worked on a tomato farm (long story).
In 2013 I met my now partner, B. We dated for a year and a half, and then my visa was expiring. We had to make a choice, call it quits, or go all in and work towards getting a de facto partner visa. We chose the latter. This involved us moving to Vancouver for a year.
We have now been together almost 7 years and live back in Melbourne where we met. I have permanent residency in Australia and will be eligible for citizenship at the end of this year, Duo-citizenship, obviously. I'd never give up my Canadian.
I am also no longer a substitute. In the most roundabout way possible, I landed a full time job using a skill that is dime-a-dozen in Canada but a novelty in Australia: I speak French.
So I am now a French teacher. I really like it. A lot more than I thought I would (by background is science, not languages).
Real Name: David Harvey Sometimes Referred to As: logan, hey you, CD, the Blockbuster Guy Age: 34 Location: North Houston TX
Mafia Info: I'm almost always clueless as a player, which is why I like to run games more than play in them. I like movies, music, Marvel, and Mystery Science Theater 3000 and have run games based on each. I ran the Mafia Outcomes thread for a long time, but real life issues made me give it up to someone else. I'm always learning and try to make each passing game more and more successful. My best game series is the Mad Musical Mafia Mayhem Series
Personal Info: I'm on Facebook and I keep my profile current there. You can look up my Facebook page by putting @yahoo.com after my screenname. I work at Blockbuster, although I hope to start a new career soon. I'm a single guy, but I hope that changes sometime soon as well. Some women have even gone as far as to call me handsome or at very least cute. I have an interesting sense of humor which comes from having four older brothers to banter with .
I like Heroclix a lot and play on Monday nights right now, although not always. I really wish they would stop changing the rules all the time, especially as drastically as they have been doing as of late. I like playing games and try to be at least competitive. My brother Jon got me into playing it and even though he isn't as deep into Heroclix as I, we still like to play a good game now and again. I play a lot of games with my brother Ken who is more local.
I play Fantasy Football, Basketball, and Baseball with my family and have won the Harvey Cup for Fantasy Baseball two years in a row. This is extremely odd since I really hate sports and have no interest watching them on tv. What makes this even odder is the fact that my family has some serious sports nuts in it and they are all very competitive.
Wow, so much time has passed since I wrote this.
I work full time now as an insurance broker specializing in Medicare plans. I got married a couple of years ago and my wife and I want to have kids. I don't get to play Heroclix as much anymore and miss it. Pokémon and Pokémon Go are my main games these days since you can play in spurts. I still keep up with the comic book movies, but reading them has been hard since they are in storage.
I miss playing Mafia, but I can rarely keep up anymore. I am looking to change jobs some time in the near future, but I'm not sure when. Things aren't perfect, but they are getting better.
Real Name: Kenny Sometimes Referred to As: K, Nessy, Kenneth Age: 29 Location: Born in New York, now residing in Oklahoma
Mafia Info: I started playing after the mafia games became active for a couple of months. I'm not sure what exactly was my first game, but I was killed pretty quickly! But I liked the concept and wanted to learn more, so I signed up for more games. I finally earned my first win as Sailor Venus in Sailor Moon Mafia 3 years ago.
Shortly after, I decided to try my hand at moderating a game. My first was Revolutionary Girl Utena, and I introduced a new mechanic that wasn't terribly good or fun. My second game was one of the largest: Thunderbolts Mafia. Unfortunately, some real-life situations arose, and the game went unfinished until I returned a few months ago. Now I've finished Thunderbolts, and I'm running a series of SNES-themed games. I like putting emphasis on write-ups, both for character roles and thread events, and I feel I improve with each and every game.
I try to keep the games fresh and fun alternate between serious and campy games. From time to time, I plan to run a "beginner level" game, so keep on the lookout if you want a simple game to join in with.
Personal Info: I'm a lover of music, so much to the point that I write and compose my own songs. I used to post my work regularly on Facebook, but since I have started working on an album, I have taken a step back on this. Many of my songs are written about personal events in my life, but others are uplifting and motivational.
I live in the middle of nowhere, a peaceful existance that allows me to escape from the world when I don't want to mess with it all. It comes with a price, though. I drive nearly an hour one way just to get to work. Of which, I do technical support for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
My sense of humor is wild and a bit out there at times, but I try to be one of the most caring and considerate members here on the realms. I do what I can to help out people (which is one of the reasons I stepped back into the forum moderator role). If you have questions, concerns, comments, or anything I might be able to help with, I'm always willing to try.
I'm an avid video gamer (classic stuff mainly) which is where I get my mafia game themes from. I also run a series of parties themed around particular systems.
Here's my update:
Now 38 and living in Massachusetts, I met my now-husband Kedryn the Dishbreaker at my first HCRealms meet up in 2012. We've been together for almost 8 years and happily married for over 4 years. I work for a local software company now, but my interests remain largely the same. I bake a lot more, and now that we finally bought a house, I plan to get back into painting minis.
This place is forever going to hold a special place in my heart, in part because of the friendships but also because it's how I ended up with the person I am with today.
I would love to try to get regular meet-ups established again, similar to our meet-ups from the earlier days, but I understand that distance and time are logistics that can rarely be complimented.
Name: Arthur Sometimes referred to as: Art, RP Age: 28 Location: Philly
Mafia info: I generally suck and I know it, but I'm ok with that. I'm learning slowly, but I'm well known for being oblivious and absent-minded, so failing to pick up on cues and clues is par for the course for me. I've won two games so far, and lost a crapton in the short time that I've been playing.
Personal info: I'm a project manager for a tradeshow exhibit design company. Married for a couple years now, with no kids at this time, but getting to that point in the (rapidly approaching) near future. I have three cats, all of whom are jerks. I'm 4 credits from a BA in Journalism, and I have been for about 4 years now and will probably be for another 4 years. My wife is about to go back to school to be a teacher, so life is going to get more serious in the near future in several ways. But I'll always be coming back to hcrealms to take a load off from that seriousness.
Wow. Still married, still 4 credits from a BA I don't care about anymore. 4 year old son who has way more energy that I ever will but makes everything much more exciting.
Less cats though, down to two of the original through, but there are two more in the house as we've moved back into my mother-in-law's place...
Still with the same company, but several promotions and a furlough later I'm now looking at a career change.
Playing a lot of Pokemon Go, Jurassic World Alive, Harry Potter Wizards Unite, most of them with my kid, and he loves dinosaurs and pokemon as a result.
Was playing at a local scrabble club hosted at a friends bookstore, but that's not meeting now. Similar for DnD and DragonQuest, we're exploring discord and email-game options now.
Gonna have to get back in the swing of this, so expect me to suck at this as much as before!

And, you know, meet-ups are ill-advised for the foreseeable future.

This is true. I was more thinking that if people were interested, we would look at something for next year (or possibly Pax Unplugged, which is where Kedryn and I get to hang out with Stan).
