For me this is a tough match with only White Lion being under par.

1. Jim Capaldi - VG9 asked why I didn't do Silver and Gold as a match since I was on a Neil Young kick. Actually I did this because I was on a Jim Capaldi kick when I did this. I wasn't here when it was shown on MTV but KSHE in St. Louis played it a lot. Thee song sounds like it was meant to be the theme song of an 80s movie they forgot to make.
2. Lebanon Hanover - I never heard of this until I made this match. Comments compare them to the Cure. I guess VG9 would know better than me.
3. Aerosmith. Of the post Rocks Aerosmith, this is probably the only song by them I like as well as their first five albums.
4. Iggy Pop - Honestly these four songs are so close my opinion could change on any given day. Fittingly edgy for Iggy. Never mind the extra words to the title. It deserves to be in this match. Be more flexible Mister 9.

White Lion- listenable but not on a par with the others.

White Lion's song was under par, but then I thought most of them were only fair to middling at best.

1. White Lion - had potential to be much better, but they sort of blew it at the chorus..
2. Aerosmith - This is one of my least favorite songs of theirs.
3. Jim Capaldi - as a songwriter, he's no Steve Winwood and the chorus steals too much from Bad Co. It doesn't stand the test of time.
4. Lebanon Hanover - If I heard this in 1983 it might be different, but in 2020 it's forgettable.
5. Iggy Pop - I always mark down the ones that are not actually same name songs.

I actually felt it was the other way around, and White Lion was a hair better.

I like Jim Capaldi. Actually went to a club where he made a surprise appearance, but prefer him as percussionist and backup vocals.

I thought Lebanon Hanover was a bit too electronic to be called similar to The Cure. Maybe Thomas Dolby or Flying Lizards

I always write my reviews and do my rankings before reading anyone else's. Maybe, had I read this first, I would have changed my vote, but only to 4, maybe 3 at the highest.

3. Aerosmith - I like this one well enough, although after this one, I swear they released the same song three times in a row and called it "Acrazin'" and I don't much like any of that. Still seems weird to me that this is the same guy that sang "Dream On."

I guess we're ready for the numbers on this. I'm surprised I'm the only one that liked the Jim Capaldi song. It had an 80s movie theme song vibe to it.
