They need to errata this broken piece of equipment. I don’t understand why they felt the need to make this not require a hit first for the result to be a critical hit. It’s stuff like this that makes it harder for newer players to stick with the game when game elements like this exist.
I get that it requires the WW TA, but anything that augments crit hit chance should actually require for the target to be hit first like basically all past game elements have before this.

Aren't Critical Hits automatically successful, no matter what the defence of the attacked character is? Or has that changed when I wasn't paying attention?
Yes, a critical hit always hits and critical miss always misses.
Also a roll of 6 always succeeds and a roll of 1 always fails regardless of modifiers.
If any of the sentences would make more sense if the verb (or any other word) was a negative please treat it as such.
Go look at how Jarnbjorn works and then come back to this object to see the difference. Jarnbjorn requires for the attack to hit before it is considered a critical hit. Sword of Athena when it’s prerequisite is met, has no requirement for the attack roll to actually hit before it is a critical hit. It just has to meet the required roll and then automatically hits. That is a huge difference and a big reason why the sword is so valuable at the moment.
Longshot from WXM was another figure/game element that augmented crit hit chances but still requires for his attack to hit for the augmented crit to go through if it wasn’t a double six crit hit. These previous game elements that augmented crit hit weren’t broken because they still required for the attack to hit if it wasn’t double six.

That means potentially auto-hitting on a 6. Perplex him with Scott Porter and it becomes insanely easy for him to hit for 3 on any attack. 4 if he's on a CCE click, which is half of them.
You are comparing a 100 point figure to a 10 point object. Anything that could bypass and crit hit like this was never this cheap. Even with Scarlet Witch, she was still a 75 point investment to give your team that option.

This is twice now, first carnage symbiote now this sword.
Where the figure I actually want to use (black lantern wonder woman 059b, and the carnage red goblin) They both can equip their respective items for free but dont come with the object, and the object is not a single available either. Basically have to buy the already expensive figure and then buy another expensive figure just for the object they need. Or your forced to just use a proxy and no object (which im doing) but its still annoying to not be able to have the actual object.
Wish these objects would be singles as well if they aren't going to come with everything that can equip them

The (Black Lantern) prime Wonder Woman doesn't have the printed team ability so the Sword is not as potent for her... although getting BCF on the dial (via the Sword) is a reasonable bonus for most of the dial. Obviously the ability to start with the Sword and swap to another piece of equipment is also a good thing for that character.
