We needed a new remake in House of X. I had no desire to get this version when it first came out, and I still do not. Go use the DoFP chase instead if you're going to spend this many points to play Nimrod.
Got this guy for christmas, looked almost unbeatable once I'd read his traits ! Not so, played him at 175 an got rinsed, played him twice at 375 an got pulse waved and trounced twice,i did roll mostly fives but still extremely upset! Im bad at this game and mr terrific is a bell wipe.
I was hyped for this guy but in practice he was not so great for 375 points. For the same points my opponent had Destroyer Thor, Ultimate Thor and ABPI Thor with Time Gem. I did manage to counterstrike twice (injuring Destroyer Thor pretty good since he can't roll impervious against the counterstrike (the damage isn't from an attack)) and also KO Ultimate Thor. But it felt like I was getting thrashed the whole time.
This is the issue with 350+ dials. You'll get out actioned and there are so many powerful 150+ clicks that can bring the hurt. This is why I've gotten rid of most of my 300+ clix. They're nothing but eye candy (imo). I own Nimrod and he's staying (for eye candy or the odd 1000 pt game I play)
Man, this guy just sucks compared to the DOFP version. For 25 points MORE, you lose multi-attack, lose the Outwit resistance, lose Hypersonic Speed and Running Shot, and get massively reduced amounts of healing. His hitpoints and damage output are pathetic for his cost. His whole block and counter gimmick is entirely luck based, so your performance is going to come down to who got better rolls. With his frequent inability to move and attack, lose of Probability Control to buffer your poor attack rolls, and low damage for his cost, you NEED to get lucky on those counter rolls or you're toast. I'll reach for the old DOFP veteran and throw in a Sentinel for the extra 25 pts, every time.
@ DBZMagus, revisit those traits. Those combined with 3 more clix of life, better overall combat values and a defense that increases late dial makes him pretty solid in my book. Sure h's not the HSS hit and run machine, but Nimrod shouldn't be that anyway.
You are all playing nimrod WRONG! You have the structural healing, can pick an attack power, hmm, steal energy, psy blast, pulse wave, blades. And the changes to RCE, he should NEVER miss. Plus taking off action tokens with new great size, no more push damage, truly unstoppable now......as he should be!
