Questions about game mechanics using 2017 rules and PAC
Hello community, Jumet from South America here. English is not my language so i will make my best to be clear, excuse me if i dont write well.
I have some questions to make about the game mechanics, mostly powers.
Well the thing is i play old school heroclix, using old characters, no special powers and no pink powers. I percibe its like two diferent games old and modern, so thats up to how each one feels more confortable with.
For me that i play with friends to have fun i feel the old school far more fun and simpler than the modern, full of contradictions and complications.
Well having said that i have apllied the 2017 patch of rules and PAC for my games.
So the questions im gonna ask are about some things i have not clear enought
Here are the questions (from the 2017 rules and PAC)
1) Charge + super strenght: How this combo works using an object? The character must have the object allready or can pick it up in the way and attack all in the same move?
2) Barrier and smoke cloud: the question about these powers is similar: if i pick a square to begin any of those, can the following adjacent barrier or SC extend beyond range and/or line of sight?
3) Barrier: Can a barrier be crossed by a flyng character? Or a character with leap climb? And how barrier affects line of sight if it is in level 1 terrain and you have an archer in the roof?
4) Charge + BCF + EW it is a legal combo? That will be charging using blades with penetrating damage right?
5) Mind control: if roll is successfull your target is yours for attack AND move? Move and attack? Or only move or only attack? And target cannot use any power right?
6) E/E splash damage can be dodged by super senses? Or masterminded? Also the splash damage can hurt allys?
7) Battly fury doesnt allow to throw an object?
8) To carry another character with a flyer they must be adjacent each other when the flyer starts its move? Or can pick it up in middle flight? Also to release a character should be when ending its move or can release it in middle flight?
9) Flurry works with another power? Like BCF or EW?
10) Knockback from quake is/can be optional?
11) If a character has lets say 15 defense with ESD and is using defend from an adjacent ally with 18 def, that character can have an 18 defense plus the ESD?
Well thats the main questions i have, i may have forgotten some, anyway thank you very much in advice
2. Range, no, line of fire (there's no such thing as line of sight), yes.
3. It depends on the map. Outdoors, yes, indoors, no. And that applies to both flight and L/C. Darned if I can remember old elevation targeting rules.
4. Yes.
5. Move and attack, yes. HOWEVER, in modern rules, if you try to move first and fail, you can't make the attack. Can't recall if that was true back in 2017 or not. Passive powers only on the attack.
6. Yes to all (the masterminded person cannot already be [hit] by the EE).
7. Right.
8. The character must be adjacent at the start of the move, they are then placed at the end of the move.
9. Blades, yes, but in 2017 EW was still a separate CLOSE.
10. Yes
11. Yes. Always replace than modify.

6. Yes to all (the masterminded person cannot already be targeted by the EE).
This is the only one I want to make sure is corrected here.
The person you mastermind to cannot already be hit by the attack. Not targeted. If they are targeted but missed, you can use Mastermind to transfer the attack to them.

A small difference but important.
This was the case in 2017 as well.
You're right, brain fart.
