Special thanks to Hesster56 for providing his HOT TAKES on the Disney+ set!
Welcome, Clix fans, and thank you all for tolerating me as I premiere my first primer. I’m taking a look at the upcoming Disney+ set, offering my thoughts and opinions, and you’re along for the ride to ridicule or agree at your convenience! Hopefully as you’re cracking into these boosters at a sealed event, you think of me and smile. And maybe that smile prompts you to offer me your Prime Vision.
So without further ado, let’s break out the popcorn and nachos, sit back, and grab the remote to check out our Disney+ Heroclix!

(+5 Points) Where Have You Been All My Life?: Captain Carter starts the game with the Disney+ #s005 Captain Carter's Shield equipped. Fragile?: Defend, Toughness, Willpower.
There’s no reason you should overlook a Basic Betty like Primary Peggy here, unless your other pulls completely outclass her. Decent stats for a primary attacker in this set, some major defenses, a good TA, and she makes the rest of your team better. If you pull a shield she’s even better.

Not Just a Model Soldier, a Model Person: Leadership. When Skinny Steve Rogers uses it, friendly characters within range are considered adjacent.
Little Sure Shot, all grown up. I’m going to hate this guy, I just know it. Why? Three little words: “shares a keyword.” Past/S.H.I.E.L.D./Soldier is pretty common in this set, not to mention pre-steroid Steve’s own S.H.I.E.L.D. TA. His leadership and willpower basically mean adjacent characters always have a buff to range and damage. He’s also all of 15 points, which you’re practically guaranteed to have available by the time you’re done building. Which means he’s also a cheap meat-shield! He’s SOOO USEFUL!

Wanda here is more of an assistant than the magician. And if you cut her in half, you’ll see “Secondary Attacker” written across her. I love her for being only the second Scarlet Witch in the entire game that has a move and attack option, and her Avengers Initiative TA makes that 11 all the more likely to land. Of course, that’s playing Mrs. Maximoff at 70 points. At 30, she makes a reliable medic, but one that is likely to get blasted off the map by almost anything you’ll face.
It's Alright Wanda, I Know Why You Made This World...: Passenger: 3, but only to carry characters with the Celebrity keyword.
Suburban Dad V.I. Sion makes sure to drive an environmentally responsible family sedan, taking all his little famous friends wherever they need to go. Aside from bringing the Kardashian Swarm across the map though, he’s not going to be the best use of 70, or even 30, points in your boosters.

(+5 Points) Steve's Legacy: Captain America starts the game with the Disney+ #s002 Captain America's Shield equipped. Wings and Shield: Energy Shield/Deflection, Force Blast.
Cap and Bucky (below) make a great pair. Sam’s boring by himself, wanting to charge in but also being a friend to ranged attackers. But if you can pair him with the Winter Soldier and some clever positioning, you’ll have someone to enhance your gunner and someone to empower your hitter. The trick is to balance his 45/50 points (get that shield yo) and the rest of your team. Fun note, I used the original Sam Wilson LE as a sniper-taxi for the original Winter Soldier waaaaaaaay back in the day, and they worked well even then.

Still Having Nightmares, Means I Still Remember: Combat Reflexes, Leap/Climb. Where's the Chute?: Once per turn, when Winter Soldier is placed, after resolutions you may give an action token to an adjacent opposing character.
As easy as it is to recommend Sam, it’s tougher to recommend Buck. The two swap their Willpower and Toughness, but Bucky’s special requires him to base someone to use, and his full dial RS means you don’t want to base anyone ever. Maybe if pushing damage still existed it would be worth trying, but someone would need to read all those codewords out to WK to get that fixed…Longing…Rusted…Seventeen…Daybreak..

(+5 Points) The Tesseract: Loki starts the game with the Disney+ #s006 Tesseract equipped. Duplication Casting: Shape Change. When Loki uses it, after resolutions you may place Loki a number squares away from his current square equal to the result.
Furnace…Oh, sorry. Where was I? Right, Suit and tie Loki. This Asgardian outcast longs for his Tesseract object, which would let him phase up and sit on prob and shape change to wait for his chance to cut someone in half. Without his cube of cosmic conveyance, he still can run over with stealth, or be carried, but it’s not as effective and he’d lose the Prob. For 70/35, he’s not a bad tertiary attacker, but he’s also not the best in the set.

It's "Doctor" Lewis, Thank You Very Much: Outwit, Perplex.
So. Both Clark Gregg and Kat Dennings have appeared on Sex and the City. In my 35 page dissertation, I’ll explain how SatC is actually a cornerstone of the MCU…or not. Still, Kim Cattrall would probably make a great Madame Hydra. Darcy Lewis though is a one-stop-support shop. For a mere 25 points, you get Outwit, Perplex, Stealth, Range-Buff, and Damage-Buff. I think she’ll be more popular in constructed, but as long as you pay no attention to the values about three quarters of the way up her dial, she can find a place to play.

Covert Ops: Stealth.
Is this your king? Nah, not even the prince of commons. Erik is probably going to pull his weight, especially if you roll with him at his lower line. That should get you the leadership you need to keep your team moving until he can bring his blades into play. Or try him at full points for some mobile Outwit.

Ruthless: Close Combat Expert, Exploit Weakness. // When Gamora, Daughter of Thanos KO's an opposing character, after resolutions heal her 2 clicks.
Now we come to our true Queen of Commons. At a mere 60 points, Gamora perfectly balances a 12/4 attack/damage line for most of her dial, a good reach, and self-heal that triggers on KO. She’s everything you could ask for and will punch above her weight class constantly.
You Are Now Moving at One-Sixteenth Speed, But Feeling All That Pain in Real Time : Incapacitate. When Hunter B-15 uses it, after resolutions, hit characters given an action token are knocked back three squares in any direction of your choosing.
Nine…Benign…oh, sorry, still working on something. B-15 here will not be sinking any battleships. But at 30 points, she’s also cheap enough that if you aren’t putting Steve or Darcy in already, you might have a last ditch flanker who can jump in, be ignored, and break a formation. Of course, doing that probably gets rid of your PDTA bonus. So…choose wisely?

Movement: Characters
What if Gamora was half the points and a quarter the effectiveness? I feel bad for our French Foot Fighter. This dial does really nothing for the character, but the simplicity is kind of elegant. He’s a fire and forget piece, and if he lands two hits he’s worth it. Just don’t expect more than that.

Hooray, the first psy-blast in the set! That and T’Challa’s 17/ESD should keep him safe, as long as you stand off and use his…wow just five range? That’s it? Okay, well maybe all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents he shares a keyword with can increase it…No? Yeah. I hope this isn’t your best common.
Wanda, Please Listen to Me: POWER: Choose an opposing character within range and line of fire. Until your next turn, Monica Rambeau gains Immobile, and when the chosen character attacks, it can only target a character named Monica Rambeau. I Have to Try to Help Her: STOP. Super Senses.
I’m sad that we probably won’t see Monica leading an MCU NextWAVE any time soon, but I’m real curious as to what people do with this figure. Extend her range, run her in pairs, something. She’s barely a better attacker than Darcy, but if your dice roll well, she can lock a figure down for a few rounds. Or, again, do S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff.

I have no idea why Jimmy can ride the Vision-van with the rest of the celebs, but good for him! Once he gets where he’s going though, he can really help his ranged buddies land hits. PDTA plus Perplex means some wildly dropping defense values. And for only 20 points, if you’ve pulled a shooting range, do the right thing and drop him in.

And You'll Give Up Your Tour Guide?: Passenger:2, Leap/Climb, Stealth.
Zemo is another character who looks really pointless until you see his cost. A mere 30 points gets you a double taxi who can end their turn in stealth, allowing for his riders to rush out and shoot on the next turn. Gamora can sneeze him to death, Batroc could kick a flip flop in his general direction and ruin his day, but if he’s gotten a pair into or out of combat, Helmut has probably made you happy.
Hesster56, this is a great lite primer. Thanks for doing it!
You're selling me on quite a few dials that came across as underwhelming at a first glance. You know how you hope for one thing, and then the designers clearly had a different idea for the set, and everything just looks disappointing? I had that going on with a lot of this set- but looking back at it now there's a lot to like, and I think these dials will play well.
Especially keen on adding so much to the GotG keyword (and Ravagers becoming a team that can rival that roster).
Great Primer! I really like the overall possitivity of the reviews. You don't focus on the negatives about the figures and instead highlight the good things they bring to a team. I look forward to seeing the rest!

Thank you both so much! I've always wanted to do something like this, and even though this set isn't my favorite, I had a ton of fun going through the dials and getting a quick reaction on paper.
