Targeting: Characters The Book of the Damned: Agatha Harkness starts the game with a Disney+ #s008 Darkhold equipped. // When she uses its EFFECT, she may instead choose 2 listed powers. These Are Runes, Wanda: POWER: Generate a Rune special marker [MAX 1] in Agatha Harkness's square. // If Agatha Harkness is more than 3 squares from a Rune marker, remove her Rune marker. // Other characters within 3 squares of her Rune marker can't use powers. It Was Agatha All Along: Stealth, Mind Control. // FREE: If Agatha Harkness occupies hindering terrain, place her in a square of hindering terrain within 4 squares and line of fire. Give Me Your Power and I Will Correct the Flaws in Your Original Spell: Penetrating/Psychic Blast. Steal Energy, but with close or range attacks.
Witchy woo, wooo ooo oo. Wiggles Halloween album has some jams, yo. So does Agatha. This is a scary, wicked witch, and she’s got a trail of candy leading to the oven. Expect Agatha to choose Prob and Perplex and just plain cackle as you try to deal with her defense and not get Mind Controlled into KO’ing your own team. Maybe if you toss a bucket of water on her you’ll ruin her dial and won’t have to play against her, but otherwise, expect to be turned into a newt.

The Book of the Damned: The Scarlet Witch starts the game with a Disney+ #s008 Darkhold equipped. // When she uses its EFFECT, she may instead choose 2 listed powers. Thanks for the Lesson: POWER: Generate a Chaos special marker [MAX 1] in The Scarlet Witch's square. // If The Scarlet Witch is more than 3 squares from a Chaos marker, remove her Chaos marker. // Other characters within 3 squares of her Chaos marker can't use powers. I Don't Understand This Power, But I Will: KNOCKBACK, Penetrating/Psychic Blast. // When The Scarlet Witch knocks back an opposing character, after resolutions choose one:
*Remove an action token from her.
*Heal her 1 click. I Can Fix This!: STOP. Super Senses, Invincible. // When this click is revealed, for the rest of the game, The Scarlet Witch has Cosmic Energy team ability.
This is peak Wanda. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. It’s not impossible to have her gain the Power Cosmic and heal almost all the way back up her dial, especially if she has a friendly Vision to sacrifice himself. All the good things I’ve said about all the Wandas in this primer apply here, some of them doubly so. Fire burn, cauldron bubble.

I Wish...I Wish...: Steal Energy. // When Loki hits, after resolutions give each hit character an action token. I Couldn't Possibly Tell You, It'll Ruin the Magic: Plasticity. // Adjacent opposing characters can only clear one action token instead of two.
This Loki plus Party Thor plus Malekith might be a mission point generating machine. And yes, it’ll grudgingly get me to admit that it’s a good thing Pushing damage is gone. Seriously though, Party Thor’s bluer brother from another mother can be a gigantic pain in your efficiency and should be enough to lock down a team and let his friends sweep up. Ignore at your own peril.

Of Course If That's Not Your Style: If you have at least one character of each rarity of Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Super Rare on your force, friendly characters modify attack +1. There's Plenty More We Can Play With: At the beginning of the game, if each character on your starting force is from a different Heroclix set, as long as The Collector is on the map friendly characters modify damage +1. What Kind of Being Leaves a Party Without Saying Goodbye?: STOP. Super Senses.
I’m pretty sure I can fit my MCU theory of Sex and the City to include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as Del Toro’s Taneleer Tivan was just slumming it with Johnny Depp. Very lucky pulls will let Dr. Gonzo give you a blanket +1 to your attack, but Jackie Boy isn’t going to help you much beyond that. Save him in your collection for Constructed.

My Father's Resolve: Once per turn, when Gamora, Daughter of Thanos rolls a single d6, she may reroll it. Perfectly Balanced: Blades/Claws/Fangs. When Gamora, Daughter of Thanos uses it, you may instead deal half the d6 result to the target. If you do, heal Gamora, Daughter of Thanos or an adjacent friendly character a number of clicks equal to the halved result.
Perfectly balanced…is not how I’d describe this beast. Daddy’s little murderess is a running, stabbing, healing proof of concept for power creep. She crams 200 points of danger in a 125 point frame. This is one more example of a “pull it and play it” chase. And you’ll have plenty of space to add friends.

I've Worked with Scraps Before: At the beginning of the game, you may generate up to 3 standard objects anywhere on the map at least 5 squares from each other. // When Sakaarian Iron Man picks up a standard object, you may instead place it on his card if less than two objects are on his card. // Sakaarian Iron Man modifies his combat values by +1 for each standard object on his card and, at the beginning of your turn, may choose one standard speed or attack power for each object on his card to use until your next turn. // When Sakaarian Iron Man would be dealt damage from an opponent's attack, you may remove a standard object from his card to take 1 unavoidable damage instead. The Smartest Man on Any Planet: Outwit, Perplex.
Tony’s dissertation to his greatness might be the longest trait I’ve seen since Jericho and Deadman. That’s not a good thing, but his dial is. If my math is right, there’s 16 squares across a standard map. Tony should be able to turn 10/10/17/2/6 into 12/12/19/4/8. Pick your HSS/Psyblast combo and start nuking people.

You Will Not Stop Me from Doing What Is Necessary: Stealth. // At the beginning of the game, each opponent must give an Infinity Gem token to 6 distinct characters on their starting force. If they have less than 6 characters, excess tokens must be given to one or more characters. // When Ultron Infinity hits one or more characters with an Infinity Gem token, instead of normal damage, you may choose to remove one hit character's Infinity Gem Token to roll a d6 to gain MISSION POINTS equal to the result.
Sculpt? 10/10. Character? 10/10. Dial? 4/10. He’ll be fun to try to catch em all for Mission Points one day, but this dial is a swing and a miss. On the plus side he’s 125, so he’s in that sweet spot for building around. And his dial is a nice straightforward attacker. But the trait just feels…forced and not a representation of his role in the show.

Carrying on the Legacy of Captain America in My Own Way: Captain America may start the game with the Disney+ #s002 Captain America's Shield and/or Disney+ #s007 Redwing equipped. He may have both of these equipped at the same time. Willing to Stand Up and Keep Fighting: Defend, Willpower. // When an adjacent friendly character replaces their defense value with Captain America's, that character can use Toughness for that attack. You Just Earned This Whoopin': Force Blast, Hypersonic Speed, Stealth. When Captain America uses Hypersonic Speed and hits with a close attack, after resolutions he may place a hit character adjacent to himself, then use Force Blast as FREE.
Hats off to the man, this SamCap is amazing. He’s good all the way down, but don’t be fooled by the point values. Unless you’re somehow desperate for Leadership, he’s a 125-point wrecking ball. The whoopin’ he delivers means you’ve got a “toss ‘em in the killbox” effect that breaks formations and can toss people out of airplanes, helicopters, off buildings or bridges, or anything else that a hero does! I kid, I love Knockback, and this fits Sam. Of course, his targets first have to survive that 13/5 attack/damage line that is reminiscent of Prime Mimic. Congrats if you pull him, condolences if you face him. Keep ‘em flying, Cap.

The most appealing ones to me are the wielders of the Darkhold, Agatha Harkness and The Scarlet Witch. The object by itself is a little pricey (in the current design paradigm), but it is something I feel like I want for Agents of SHIELD/MCU completeness. Agatha Harkness is completely my speed... she's pricey, but she ought to be able to neuter a lot of first-strike+close-combat teams. The Targeting is incredibly potent given her mastery of the Darkhold, 7, and Steal Energy. The Scarlet Witch has many of the same tricks, and is arguably the better of the two figures (keywords)... and this figure is obviously a high-level threat... its just that I have Wanda fatigue.
I hate the character of The Collector, but I love that the gimmicks... and that the Collector has such a relatively low point cost. I can totally see myself trying to build a team that "shows off" my collection... perhaps with some other odd requirement that all other characters share a name... and just toss him on for goofs. Otherwise, this dial does nothing for me.
Of the rest, Loki is the most appealing. At first glance, the dial doesn't look that amazing for 75 points (and an odd assortment of keywords) knowing that it is a ... but get him into the mix and opponents will have to deal with him. This may not be too hard in the no-pushing era, but there are options to protect him, especially with the Asgardian keyword.
The other figures have strong dials, I think Sakaarian Iron Man at 50 points may be the best of the bunch. 50 points is the magic value for a LOT of potentially abusive traits on other figures. Ultron Infinity is the most personally disappointing; I wanted a one-man-army, but this is a bit player for Mission Point teams.
Cool reviews, glad to see Hesster out there keeping it real, but holy hell this game has moved past me. I'd say it's lost its nut, but I'm just the VHS guy shaking his head at DVD (or maybe this is HD-DVD?)

My friend, we're pretty much at the "streaming has eradicated the ownership of media" level of this game.

I feel like my venue is going to get sick of me playing Wanda and SR Vision with the kids and pietro.. throw on Marvella and start going crazy in the Spider-man family nonsense.. its just so good! Also helps that Wandavision was my favorite out of the Disney+ shows.. until Hawkeye that is!
