I said this many times and I'll say it again: the problem isn't the design. It's the people who will not stop finding ways to abuse broken mechanics. Wizkids, as terrible game designers as they are, don't force anyone to equip that obect to someone with a STOP. Whoever chooses to use this combo, knowing the current rules allows them to be literally invincible, is against fun. People need to take responsibility for their actions.
Back at you. You are knowingly choosing to play a suboptimal team and should be OK with losing to anyone who is trying to build the best team they can.

In big tournaments, players are going to build to win within the confines of the rules. There are players that are very adept at this and they expect other players that are serious about winning to do the same.
That is "fun" for a lot of players who attend big tournaments. That is a very simple concept and it is a fact.
I think Sakaarian Iron Man is a ridiculous design with essentially no counter and I wish it didn't exist. However, I fully expect to play against it at Worlds and hell, I might even play it myself.
The game is what it is. I really don't understand the moral judgment or philosophizing over sportsmanship and so forth based not on a player's attitude or actions, but his BUILD.
I totally understand debating the merits of the design and the potential negative effect on the game as a whole, but the shaming of people who play a legal team is a bit baffling to me.

Well said. (try Demon in an Armor, c/TM PJ Bolin)

Because this is what so-called "fun" players always do. What makes their attitude all the worse, is that whatever they're condemning will switch based on what they're playing. It's always what YOU'RE playing that's a blight on the game, never them.

I see no issue with soulsword in a competitive constructed environment. Alot of ways to get around it using characters that can unequip, tarot cards like the fool, the new swords that stop TAs or Stop clicks and characters like Leech amd chase Scarlet that shut off powers even mirror matches.
I can see where it becomes an issue when playing in a group that maybe casual but I say its more on the person not understanding the playgroup vibes.
I would say that the issue would come with the sealed environment.
The big issue I see is that set design should've been a bit better to give options on how to stop such a combo from happening or giving answers to it. I think I'd be a bit annoyed as well playing in a sealed and having nothing I do succeed because it's just impossible.
Hit the person to their stop click, and second attack to finish them off (difficult in Tarn's case since he has mastermind).
Or anything that deals damage after the attack will do it too. Like Justice Lords, and Death.
As the Active Player, you get to choose the order of "After Resolution" triggers, so if you have a character that has an after effect damage, they will rip right through it.

Nah. There are certainly elaborate combos that aren't on game design, this is emphatically NOT one of those. Half of the set in which it was released have traits to equip these swords immediately. As OP mentioned this broken 'combo' was within the same booster. Counting the grand prize figures there's 3 figures within this set alone who break the sword like that and all three specifically have traits to equip it immediately. The actual worst player in the game can figure out this out in 30 seconds tops.

[E] EFFECT: Blades/Claws/Fangs, [MYSTICS] // If this character already has [MYSTICS], once per turn when they deal damage from that team ability choose one: deal 2 penetrating damage instead -or- also heal 1 click.
With this fix applied, you have to pop a character three times in the same turn to get them off their STOP click.

Still f'ing brutal, but possible.

Twice will get them to stay on the STOP click, so you can get them off it on the next turn. Not quite as brutal, but of course this also leaves room for them to do something about it.
